He is not suppose to anyway, Is that right? I am pretty sure I recall all previous Presidents returning a salute. But, the Marine did not salute. Had he been instructed not to?

Civilians do not salute. Saluting is only for uniformed members of the military. He would demean saluting by doing it.

Obama is a civilian. He is not supposed to salute. It’s been a “nice” gesture in the past and makes a nice photo-op for the President, whether, Clintoon, Bush, or whomever.
For Obama to return the salute of Marines is an insult to the Marines and a hypocritical act by Obama.

No, they do not. Look it up. The president may or may not return the salute. If they return the salute, I hope someone has taught them to do it properly.

I've always wondered why the President would salute a serviceman. They are reporting to HIM, not the other way around. It's a show of weakness for a Pres to salute anyone. It puts them on equal footing and the Pres is SUPPOSED to be his Commander.
He shouldn't 'salute' and it's REALLY disgusting when he.. BOWS to foreign dignitaries!
