There are a lot of reasons to think twice before getting something permanently drawn on your body. One is that people still treat those with tattoos differently than those without. One recent study, for instance, looked at how men treat women with tattoos. What they found was that men are more likely to approach a woman with a tattoo and more likely to expect a date or sex with that woman.
Heres how the study worked. Researchers had women place temporary tattoos on their lower backs and sent them to a well-known beach. The women were instructed to lay on the beach reading a book, staying on their stomachs so that the tattoo was visible. There were two parts to this study. In the first one, once the woman was in place, researchers watched and counted how many men approached her. In the second, once the woman assumed her position, a male researcher walked around the beach and asked random men whether they would be willing to respond to three questions about a girl somewhere on the beach. Every single man they approached said yes.
Heres how the researchers summarized their results:
Two experiments were conducted. The first experiment showed that more men (N = 220) approached the tattooed confederates and that the mean latency of their approach was quicker. A second experiment showed that men (N = 440) estimated to have more chances to have a date and to have sex on the first date with tattooed confederates.
Interestingly, the study did refute an earlier finding about women with tattoos. In 2007, researchers from the University of Liverpool showed that men rated women with tattoos as physically less attractive, but sexually more promiscuous than those without. In this study, researchers found that physical attractivenessas rated by the men on the beach who agreed to answer questions about the womanwasnt impacted by the tattoo. Another study in 2005 also found that tattoos dont change attractiveness, but do negatively impact a persons credibility, regardless of their gender.
So tattoos might not be bad for picking up dudes at the beach, but they might impact what those dudes think of you in the long run.
No doubt, this screams federal grant all over the place.
No doubt, and the stamp is obviously not there for her to look at, so one can only assume...
American female, circa 1953.
The old saying “a bad apple ruins the barrel”, was based on long recognized facts.
The hoodlum and gang culture was introduced into the American childhood apple barrel in the 60’s by JFK and LBJ and has gone downhill from there.
“tattoos dont change attractiveness, but do negatively impact a persons credibility”
Of course it does, particularly in the professional world. The only places where people can make serious money with tats all over the place are in music or sports—in other words, they have to have money-making talent. JMHO.
OMG Travis—please tell me that’s photoshopped! If not, this girl won’t be a lawyer or accountant anytime soon. How short-sighted that is.
Wow, that would cut my dry-cleaning bill to zero! Where do I sign up?
Is that why pilots call them approach lights?
“What you said! I may be older than dirt, but I just think those things look like s##t, especially on women.”
I’m a middle-aged woman, and I couldn’t agree more.
“Turns out they were the ear lobe all stretched out by some sort of thing”
I’ve seen those—very bizarre! And you’re right—it looks like it’s straight out of National Geographic.
Why people want to mess up their bodies is beyond me.
OMG!! He made himself a dimple.
I forsee some major plastic surgery in this guy’s future. I guess the earlobes can be fixed...maybe. But the nostrils? Not likely.
I remember that -- it was hilarious!
Oh, baby! Please tell me what you’re doing tonight, so I can make sure to be somewhere else!
I have a semi-friend that was into that giant hole in the earlobe thing a few years back.
He doesn’t wear the rings anymore but his lobes are permanently disfigured and mangled.
It’s actually pretty pathetic........and Gross.
Jack has the clip on post 52.
pretty funny stuff.
Is she part Feringhi?
Sad that the tattoos still pretty much mean the same thing but so many more girls have them now.
Wrong, they mean the same thing in the eyes of the guys, but not to the girls. Honest Injun, it's true. For example, there's a perfectly straight, probably conservative, sporty type mom I see at the gym who has a friggin' race motorcycle tattooed on her calf, and I think her husband and sons are into racing. Women get tattoos for the damndest reasons.
Well, there is one thing about it. If this kid ever gets into a confrontation with the law, the cops can connect his earlobes to an immovable object with cuffs, and he won’t get away.
Gen-X/Y/Z should take note when we geezers dump on you. This is what we see. Protest all you want about the evil Boomers, this is your generation.
Egg-zactly!!! Spot on!
If anyone wanted to know what demons look like.
That’s probably the one that is infesting him or her or whatever it is.
Like I tell my late 20s early 30s kids, when they hit about 50 they’ll be paying more taxes so idiots with piercings and tats can have them cosmetically erased. The same thing with people with the loud speakers disguised as s#itty little cars. Hearing specialists will clean up in about 20 years treating those dim bulbs who blew their ear drums out.
I completely agree. It’s one thing to get a small one on the wrist, but some go wayyyy over the top.
“When i see a tat on a god gifted body its the worst, I always ask myself what the F were they thinking?”
Ditto. So my question is... after having all that ink pumped into their skin, the take that first look in the mirror and can actually convince themselves they look “hot?”
And BTW, included in that 1-in-5 stat must be all adults, including elderly who still mostly reject them. Among younger adults, I’ll bet that prevalence is minimally 50%.
I think you might be aiming at the wrong target if you want to get laid.
The tramps with stamps are trying to show their “individuality.”
usually in the past these tattoo threads would bring out the Freeper Tattoo Defense Force.
Not too many here tonight....
That’s because it’s morning and they aren’t up yet.
I remember an SNL fake commercial years ago regarding some type of Tramp stamp removal gel or something and it hurt like hell.
I was pretty funny.
Maybe the same one, but they had one with Amy Pohler with a tramp stamp at a young age, and then morphed in a melting mess as the years took their tool on the “ work of art”
That should be shown to anyone thinking about getting one.
I saw way too many tattooed women at Wal-Mart yesterday. White, black, brown, most fat and ugly, sporting their tats. It wasn’t pretty.
yea it was one of the funnier ones.
Jack found the vid clip in post 52.
“Thats because its morning and they arent up yet.”
“Yea, that chinese symbol is really deep man, wow im reallly impressed...”
Ya gotta read http://hanzismatter.blogspot.com a blog devoted to how bad those are. As in “the stupid, it burns” bad.
Such “discrete” tats mean another man has been there, graffiti tagged the spot, and she had to pay him to do it.

i am laughing pretty bad right now lol
Did they look like this?
IMO, and speaking of first hand knowledge, tattoo’s are like an old calendar with pictures that can never be changed.
The stupid idiots that completely cover their bodies including their faces with “tatts”, are only looking for attention. When I see someone with that much ink coverage, I look away in disgust.
I believe the figure I saw was 40% of people under the age of 40 have tattoos
