Syria: Obama talks no fly zones, Putin sends missiles
Rare.US ^ | May 30, 2013 | James S. Robbins

Just when the Obama administration finally starts talking about establishing a no-fly zone over Syria, Russia’s president Vladimir Putin sends the Assad regime the means to shoot U.S. planes down. There are competing strategies at work: “leading from behind” versus “up yours, America.”

Isn’t it interesting the timing of this new no-fly zone?

Israel may need to take military action, and all of a sudden there’s a real need for a no-fly zone.

Could Obama be any more transparent?

Really, does anyone actually listen to (and believe) anything coming of the Obamadork’s pie hole?

Besides our press, I mean.

Assad is a Russian ally and has told Obama many times that sending the rebels arms will only make the war grow.

It's a civil war...very different from Iraq or Afghanistan.

Kaddafhi also warned us about arming the rebels in their country. How'd that turn out?

the missles make the no fly zone easy for Assad to enforce.

Putin's missiles are defense.

Not in the hands of Hamas or Hezballah they aren't.

“Israel may need to take military action, and all of a sudden there’s a real need for a no-fly zone.”

Israel has been launching cruise missiles and glide bombs from Lebanese territory. The no-fly would need to include Lebanon.

If the US flies planes over the very latest Russian interceptors we will lose planes. Flying over Syria is insane.

Is this what Obama was talking about when he said he might have more flexibility after the election?

Or is this the result of having a small time community organizer in the ring with world class leaders?

Our little chickadee is trying to compete with eagles and vultures.

Obviously, Obama will expect Putin to be “flexible,” and thus allow unlimited numbers of Obamadrones to “be employed” in Syria - - - - .

We are backing the Presidents party, the Muslim Brotherhood. Any American who makes the mistake of thinking this is about good guys vs bad guys and kills some Muslim Brother Hood guys dies quickly in accidents.

See seal team Six, Benghazi, and the two cops that shot the Boston Marathon bomber.

The circle of death around Obama is a Muslim one.

You have to admit that bending over backwards takes a lot of flexability. Our president is great at bending over.

How do the S300s do with stealth?

“How do the S300s do with stealth?”

As I understand it if you have enough linked radars then stealth is reduced. We only have the F-22 and the B2 that are stealthy. I’m willing to wager we can’t fly the F-22’s at the required operational tempo for long because I’ll bet there are insufficient spares. Also, when we do lose one, we’ll be giving the technology away. And, we will lose one as losses are dictated more by poor usage and ROI’s than by the planes and pilots. I see no reason why the US should be involved in any way as both sides are incredibly evil. When our side wins they’ll immediately be back to killing Americans and Israelis. I’m for standing well clear on this one.

I don’t advocate we enter this either. I’ve been advocating against it.

I wonder how those S300s work with an aircraft just over the surface.

If there’s a way to defeat these, Israel will work it out.

“If there’s a way to defeat these, Israel will work it out.”

I don’t know if this is still the case, but before the war and after the Israelis blew up the nuclear reactor the Russians put in a first world anti-aircraft system capable of taking down low flying F-16’s. The control radars were off-shore in Russian warships. To take out the radars would require a direct attack on the Russian navy. The Israelis have not, to my knowledge, ventured far into Syrian space since then. The political cost of losing a pilot is too high. I suspect the Israelis will continue to finance ground operations and launch stand-off weapons.

Israel is the world leader in remotely piloted vehicles. I imagine if there is an attack it will be by Israeli RPV’s unless we get stupid and do it ourselves.
