That number ought to be 75, 80%. "Fifty-eight percent say the administration's handling of the attack on the Benghazi, Libya, diplomatic post also raises questions about the honesty of the White House. The same number say the Justice Department's subpoenaing of reporter email and phone records in national security leak investigations also raises concerns. But the poll also finds that the controversies have not damaged President Obama’s personal standing. Obama holds a 48% approval rating with 47% disapproving. Those numbers match his rating in the same poll taken in April."

So people in increasing numbers don't like what's happening in the country. They don't associate Obama with it at all. He's not tainted by it. His "administration" has problems. His "administration" may be dishonest. His "administration" is very, very troubling. Not him, according to the polling data. So... (interruption) See? They're not even gonna force cloture on it. McConnell's office sent an e-mail out and said (paraphrased), "No, no, no, no. Politico got that wrong. We're not gonna get that immigration vote without cloture, 60 votes." But there are rumblings that the Republicans in the Senate aren't going to do all that much to prevent this vote from taking place on immigration.
So, folks, we're not gonna stop Obama from being Obama. If he wants to gouge us in the eye by appointing Rice and Samantha Power, that's what he's gonna do. Show me the evidence where any of the things he's done -- from economic policy to foreign policy, to anything -- you name it, has hurt. You can't find any polling data (which all they care about in Washington) where he's been damaged by it at all. His approval number still sky-high. Well, not sky-high, but it's not dropping. It's not plummeting.

You are exactly right. 0bama is just a bit player on a much larger stage. The frog has been boiling since the 60’s and the destruction of America is coming closer to reality. The corrupt ruling elite, greedy banksters, and low information voters are pushing us over a cliff into Idiocracy. I am not sure there is enough of America left that is worth saving. Texas, Oklahoma and the states of the Old South could secede and become the Free States of America, but we would probably be outnumbered and lose Civil War II. I think you are right and the goal should be to keep pressure on these scandals (actually more like crime scenes) and solidify the mistrust of the administration.
Making gains in congress is also necessary. One of the most interesting aspects of the IRS matter is that “Tea Party” and pro-life organizations were particularly targeted. I think this will have some good effects:
1) This likely will energize many of the small Tea Party organizations. Any attempt to intimidate Tea Parties will simply backfire on the those trying to do so. 2014 will more closely resemble 2010 than 2012. Any Fedzilla bureaucracy that tries to suppress the Tea Parties will find they are throwing gasoline onto a fire.
2) This also has the promise of tamping down GOPe opposition to Tea Party types. They don’t like the Tea Party movement, but for the coming election cycle they will have to put that aside. The IRS scandal is too important for their election prospects, and like it or not, the IRS scandal is tied directly to suppressing the Tea Party.
3) This may also help the Tea Party’s image with LIV’s who have previously bought the lies uttered by the MSM and dems. Touchy-feely LIV’s are sometimes inclined to sympathize with underdogs, and the Tea Parties getting targeted by the IRS puts them in that light. Maybe some might start to think that Tea Party types are not bad guys at all like CNNABCNBC etc. have been saying.
4) Maybe for this cycle the antagonism that some Republican voters have for social conservatives can also be tamped down. Pro-life and pro traditional marriage groups have been targeted as well, and that may help both sides here find common ground for reducing the size and power of government. Maybe this will help restore some part of the Reagan coalition. Economic conservatives, social conservatives, libertarians etc, can all rally around the common cause of smaller, less intrusive government.
