I bet that deep down he’s a really good person.

I see what you did there.

...6 feet down...

I’m sure he was turning his life around and was a good boy deep down.

You can say what you want about the humanity of the action, but public executions (particularly graphic ones) will stick with (and deter) someone who might consider a similar criminal act.

I submit the story of "Black Jack" Pershing, who supposedly executed Islamic fighters with bullets dipped in pig blood and then buried them under the pigs carcasses, but let one go free to tell the others. Agree or disagree, the report was there were no further "problems" in that area.

War is hell, and you gotta hit them where it hurts so they'll remember and think about it next time. They are doing it to us, so turnabout is fair play in my book...

Stories like this come out of Latin America from time to time. It probably happens in remote areas more often than is reported.

The issue is (IMO) is that when a horrific crime occurs, the laws there do not allow for the death penalty. The citizens know that the perp will be in prison for only a few years and then will walk free, so they prevent the police from taking the perp into custody and take justice into their own hands.

Let’s just hope he was actually the guilty party. Hopefully they knew something that wasn’t disclosed here.

I've read where Vlad the Impaler provided gold drinking cups at public fountains and no one dared steal them for fear of being impaled.

I heard it was an ancient Ukrainian cossak tradition to put a live murdered under a victim’s coffin.
