The guy was a concert pianist. Lost a hand in the war. Wanted to die, but Charles got him some one-hand Piano music. I think it was Ravel, who wrote for a friend after WWI.
About the only way is to watch the entire show (contest). Who were the competitors? WE NEED MORE PICS!
His profile page said he was banned.
The Piano Concerto for the Left Hand in D major was composed by Maurice Ravel between 1929 and 1930, concurrently with his Piano Concerto in G. It was commissioned by the Austrian pianist, Paul Wittgenstein, who lost his right arm during World War I.
If you just listened, you would never believe the pianist was using only one hand.
I had a piano student with exactly the same disability. I started teaching her voice lessons in addition to piano and she developed into a wonderful singer and actress. She had a sunny personality and pursued occupational therapy in college - a perfect career for her.
Then it only lasted a few minutes.
Very nice performance. Thanks!
I must be lucky- In the school I went to if someone kicked the crutches out from someone he would have gotten a serious ass-beating
