We need to see his personnel jacket to determine if any of that is true.

You can tell it's true because all the leftists are outraged.

Well, the leftists have their Bradley "We Steal Secrets" Manning.

Or, his tax returns. I am sure they will be on the net soon.

Actually, if he was in the position to have access to that information, it would be a rare exception if his salary claims are not true.

I have be in this market since 1978, starting with IBM, and I have hired quite a few top IT people over my career.

No doubt. But they all tried to hire on at the post office to be letter carriers in the ghetto because the medical insurance is better ~ AND ~ best of all, fewer people want to shoot you for ‘not sharing’ ~

I noticed that at a couple of places I visited to see the source material for articles posted here.

It was interesting. About the defensive comments I could find were (1) The Patriot Act was signed by Bush and (2) both sides do it.

Other than that, there is no defense for Obama to be found.

FEMA got a lot of emergency police state powers after Katrina. They also have internment facilities intended to be used in emergencies for displaced populations.

As you know, the patriot act was to only be used to catch Islamic terrorists and they expanded it to strip Americans of their rights and threaten and harass people. With Obama, Holder and Jan the Man and all the commie Czars targeting Obama’s enemies as “terrorists”, FEMA can not be trusted with police state power and interment facilities.

I agree he is a hero. For the first time, I realized that every call I make is tracked. That isn’t right.

We do not live in a free country if every call I make is reported to the government, showing the number I called, the unique ID of the phone I used and the cell tower I placed the call on, which locates me as I made the call.

The government can track my movements and calls in real time. I have no freedom or privacy.

I would rather die a free man than live as a serf.

Excellent article.

muawiyah has been deluging the threads with his rabid anti-snowden/pro-NSA opinions with quite a fury. I am pretty sure he wouldn’t have liked our Founding Fathers (rebels) very much either. It is pretty clear on which side he would have fought because RED is his favorite color.

You pegged him perfectly.

Remember the white tanks and apc's? on rail sidings? and fenced in areas?

I remember the first story ~ way back in 1969 ~ it was all about the POSTAL CONCENTRATION CENTERS ~ or PCCs.

Those were facilities serving major metropolitan areas where mail of various kinds would be 'concentrated' to dispatch to other cities.

America's then vigorous leftwingtard press wrote hundreds of articles about how Richard Nixon would soon be rounding them up and sending them to the hitherto secret PCCs.

I"m here to tell you that if Nixon didn't send you to a PCC you're probably not going to get sent to a FCC by Obama!

hey, he said he could tap into the President's email at will ~

strains credulity.

The idea that NSA was analyzing telephone records is not particularly new ~ that started the first day the first boss found out that the telephone service bill could be examined to see which employees were cheating by calling people from work!

Do you imagine that NSA wasn't examining phone records, or if they weren't that somebody else wasn't? Good grief, there are a dozen countries on this planet with the technological capaciy to tap data streams to pick up all the billing data ~ which is what is meant by 'telephone records'. Do you think they don't do that?

Google "burn phone." You pay for the phone with a certain amount of calling time on it. There is no plan or accessories. Once used, it can be thrown away. TV shows always have criminals using them.

It’s false patriotism to allow the existence of treasonous activity to hide under the umbrella of classified information.

I may not—and it’s required—that I agree in every respect with what Snowden may have done. He has precious and unique characteristics to what he has xone and points us toward, such that we and our descendants should be forever grateful.

I suspect strongly you are an enemy agent who wants us to drop our guard and get back quickly to a pre-9/11 point of view.

Have you read the FISA Warrant? Here is an interesting portion of it:

"The Order does not require Verizon to produce telephony metadata for communications wholly originating and terminating in foreign countries".

This is the FISA Warrant.

The warrant appears to take us back to the pre-9/11 point of view. This time our government is at war with us and not the jihadis.

Remember, we ended up needing to put our forces there for more than half a century due to the inability of Europeans to self-govern.

BTW, glad you posted that segment of the FISA warrant ~ notice the use of the term METADATA ~ you and others have been treating METADATA as if that were actual communications content ~ like text from an email, a voice recording, etc.

So why do you do that?

And, what about the Chicom and other efforts in the same game ~ doesn't it bother you that someone who claims to be an important 'expert' in this matter has flown the coop and ended up with the Chicoms? Does that have no meaning for you?

Alger HIss went to prison for 3 years. Now you and I might argue that he should have died there, but somebody else thought it useful to let him out ~ and no doubt he was followed around and photos were made, and J.Edgar Hoover built files for use down the road by analysts with an interest in such folks.

I still think the Detroit problem was more costly than HIss. There you had the Young family directly on the payroll of the USSR's politboro ~ and Andrew and his friends were running that city in the ground. The personnel director at the post office was in a curious position as well. A Young relate (Andy's brother I believe) he knew all the used up defectors sent there. Detroit was where the gub'mnt employed them! A number of them were engineers so they fit right in the postal lab maintained at that site.

When 'mail covers' were run, the letters were routed to Detroit ~ Paul Carlin can tell you about that practice ~ so whoever we were interested in was immediately revealed, through Young and double agent defectors, to the KGB.

Interestingly enough one of the revelations made during this news cycle was that all letter mail which requires sortation is actually photographed ~ and I can imagine all sorts of reasons why that would be done ~ stopping anthrax and other chemical attacks from spreading is a good one ~ but those 'covers' create metadata of use to...... who?

The lab is in the DC area these days, but do we still send defectors over there to work? The same old same old could be underway in that quarter and yet no one cares but me?

Ok, fair enough. But, I can also tell you that I "believed in Bush's promises too", and look what he gave us.

All of your points will still apply, however, you can't win any of those points without first winning the stated battle, or at least reversing its trend. For if you don't win, or begin to make a dent in this new battle, you will lose all of those points you mention.

So, we first need to accept allies in our fight to win this battle, for if we do not win this battle, we will surely lose everything else.

When and if the REAL story on Benghazi comes out, it will take down the whole lot of them. What!? — He's been sounding the alarm on government overreach for years now; this PRISM incident isn't lawful, in fact it's proof that the 4th, 5th, and possibly 6th Amendments are dead, dead, dead. It's certainly proof that the government is utterly unbound by the constraints of the Constitution and the Tree of Liberty is thirsty.

You may need your friends someday. Best not to lose them over a simple difference of opinion. FR used to be a site for reasoned discussion, but seems to have become a site for mutual destruction of allies, splintering of efforts, and quite discourteous to boot. The founders had differences of opinion far greater than what this site contains, but found ways to work together.

Sorry I can’t be insightful enough to meet your criteria. But please keep in mind we’re on the same side.
