Feds reversing course, will comply with order to allow girls of any age to buy morning-after pill

The federal government on Monday told a judge it will reverse course and take steps to comply with his order to allow girls of any age to buy emergency contraception without prescriptions.

The Department of Justice, in the latest development in a complex back-and-forth over access to the morning-after pill, notified U.S. District Judge Edward Korman it will submit a plan for compliance. If he approves it, the department will drop its appeal of his April ruling.

According to the department's letter to the judge, the Food and Drug Administration has told the maker of the pills to submit a new drug application with proposed labeling that would permit it to be sold "without a prescription and without age or point-of-sale prescriptions." The FDA said that once it receives the application it "intends to approve it promptly." Last week, an appeals court dealt the government a setback by saying it would immediately permit unrestricted sales of the two-pill version of the emergency contraception until the appeal was decided.

That order was met with praise from advocates for girls' and women's rights and with scorn from social conservatives and other opponents, who argue the drug's availability takes away the rights of parents of girls who could get it without their permission.

Advocates for girls' and women's rights said Monday the federal government's decision to comply with the judge's ruling could be a move forward for "reproductive justice" if the FDA acts quickly and puts emergency contraception over the counter without restriction.

Annie Tummino, lead plaintiff in a lawsuit over unrestricted access to the morning-after pill and coordinator of the National Women's Liberation, said women and girls should have "the absolute right to control our bodies without having to ask a doctor or a pharmacist for permission."

To answer the rhetorical question: Postmodern Relativism, there is no absolute or consistent moral stake in the ground. Your theme revolves around the idea of “freedom”, that is your reference. You can no more understand the postmodern mindset than you can the schizophrenic thought process. They are the same.

Who has the right to tell her she can’t drink? The bartender?

The feminazis have always said it was THEIR body and they should be able to do what they want with it. Drugs, booze, prostitution, you name it.

Go for it ladies, see how that all works out fer ya.

I had intended it to classify this provision of the morning after pill to be a dark joke. It was equally as absurd as a four year old walking into a bar. There had to be a punch line following.

I think yours is decent enough.

So a four year old girl walks into a bar.
The bartender says, sorry sweetie, there’s nothing for you here.
At the end of the bar a federal marshal stands up with a badge and says, give the little lady whatever she wants.
If she wants, she can come sit with me.
I like little girls, and I have some toys at home she’s gonna love.

Right.

They say with a corrupt mind they can do whatever to THEIR body. So they can kill and rip apart what they don't want in their body and need a man to do it while hoping they don't die because that would be a terrible thing to them. Warped thinking to say the very least. It's demonic - as 'Satan has come to kill, rob and destroy'.

I took it as that. And there is no reason that 'any age' can have access to the pill - that it won't lead to the 4 yr old in a bar - it's just as dark. We can laugh about a 4 year old walking into a bar now. With liberals it's always one drop at a time to get others to accept it and then each time move on to the next law from the pit. Whatever destroys - there is no bounds for evil sake.

Just another incremental step in the Left’s/Democrat Socialist Party’s goal to transfer control of the family to the government. The steps are coming closer and closer together ...

We already know that Obama promotes murder by abortion. And now it’s on record that Obama could care less if he puts these *children* at risk of this potentially very dangerous drug.

“Risks Ignored”

“...At home and abroad, the abortion, family planning, and population control groups which seek to promote MAP ignore the scientifically-proven risks of levonorgestrel (the sole active ingredient of Plan B MAP). These well-documented adverse side effects include significant weight gain (on average 15 pounds), depression, ovarian cyst enlargement, gallbladder disease, high blood pressure, respiratory disorders,4 increased risk of ectopic pregnancy5 and death. In some women, these serious adverse effects of levonorgestrel-type MAP could lead to further health risks for bulimia, anorexia, or clinical depression...”

The judges should be arrested, tried and convicted of contributing to the delinquency of minors.

Also, the first case that comes up of someone forcing an underage girl to take the pill to cover up a rape or incest, the judges should be arrested, tried and convicted of accessory.
