A group of whistleblowers, including a number of aviation experts, have come forward in a new documentary to claim that the official explanation for the crash of TWA Flight 800 was wrong and a gas tank explosion did not bring down the flight off the coast of Long Island 17 years ago.
However, the six whistleblowers, all part of the original investigation team, stopped short of saying the plane was shot down.
Flight 800, a Boeing 747, had just taken off from JFK airport with 230 people aboard on July 17, 1996 enroute to Paris when it exploded and crashed off the coast of nearby East Moriches, Long Island, killing everyone on the plane.
“..This team of investigators who actually handled the wreckage and victims’ bodies, prove that the officially proposed fuel-air explosion did not cause the crash,” reads a statement by the producers of the film, which will debut on cable network EPIX next month. “They also provide radar and forensic evidence proving that one or more ordinance explosions outside the aircraft caused the crash.” However, the statement said they did not speculate about the source or sources of any ordinance explosions.

First, only a few knew it happened. Unless you are assuming that all the ships crew on each ship were all standing on the topdeck with binoculars just 'watching the show'. I assure you, that is not the case.
Second, this movie, this article are proof that after YEARS OF KEEPING SILENT, some people are now TALKING.

I followed that whole case closely. I was local at the time and it was news every day for a while. My hubby and I both had college level physics and passed it. The official explanation was laughable.
Which is why I said the 'likeliest'. It was the simplest, and didn't even require human error. It appeared to fit some of the facts. But not all of the facts.
That is what is so great about F.R. One person can't know 'everything' but thousands of people can. You provided information which would seem to exclude the bolide theory. So... the discussion continues and we all know more today than we did yesterday. Everyone wins.
Where was Louis Freeh in all that. He’s been the bagman in these investigations for 20 years. Including, lately, the Sandusky investigation.
Although it's rare for a meteor to hit a plane, they've been known to hit houses and cars. We had one hit a dentist's office nearby a couple of years back. The belief this doesn't happen, that we don't have rocks falling from the sky, is still around in some quarters. But I have a clue for those quarters, the Earth is round, it's in space, things traveling parallel to the ground are coming up on your left, right, front and back ~ and sometimes they drop out of orbit.
I bet that those posting on this thread, did as well. Some of them were posting on FR on the TWA800 threads back then. As is the case with the 'emotional' subjects like 'government conspiracy' and 'religion', it was like a civil war between opposing factions. It was almost the same as the recent CHINESE MISSILE or JET AIRLINER (carefully edited and designed) video that was paraded in front of the public because of the 'government conspiracy' that was taking place at the time. There were two sides and they both 'knew' they were right, and were ready to kill (figuratively) anyone who disagreed.

Excellent. My estimation is that at least half the posters on F.R. have had college level physics. When 'we' put our heads together, we are an awesome force.

Yes, both c4 and semtex residue were found in the fuselage. It is documented in the final NTSB report. They conclude they were brought aboard by bomb sniffing dogs prior to the flight. This has been debunked. This new documentary should cover this hopefully.
My father worked at TWA. In the main repair/maintenance facility. Everyone at TWA knew it was a lie. Where is TWA and all it’s employee’s now?
The missile also indicated it was a missile, but those who recovered it cannot speak a word of it.

I remember this day pretty clearly. I was coming home from a 2 week excursion to Italy with some high school classmates. I was flying TWA from Rome to JFK and then JFK to Washington National. My flight took off from JFK right before 800 and landed in DC without incident. But our parents were freaking out at the airport when we arrived, thinking that our plane was the one that blew up. I thought my parents just really missed me.

Actually, it's impossible. Now.. bolides and meteorites could strike a plane. Meteorites (albeit very small ones) strike planes all the time.
The belief this doesn't happen, that we don't have rocks falling from the sky, is still around in some quarters.
Had a 40 year old female 'friend'. She told me that meteorites (aka Shooting Stars) were STARS that fell from the sky, and that's why we can't see as many STARS in the SKY as we used to.
But I have a clue for those quarters, the Earth is round
It only look round from far away. An optical illusion. It isn't round, it's shape changes with the procession of the moon, and up close it's just undescribable, especially where it gets hit by rocks falling out of the sky.
NOW... back to your theory. The bolide would have to have a certain mass for it to work. Too small, it wouldn't have caused the plane to crash. Too big, it would have vaporized the plane. It would have to be like Goldilocks and the Three Bears "just the right size".
Next, there would have been multiple 'explosions' in the form of what sounded like semi-auto cannons going off. Do you remember the recent METEORITE coming down over RUSSIA? I listened to one of the best 'soundtracks' of the meteorite. The 'bangs' going off before the final BOOM were like the gunfire in a RAMBO movie. In the TWA800 case, I don't remember any reports of multiple shockwave type noises, or of large 'variations' in the brightness of the object(missile).

Quite correct. It’s not those who are sworn to secrecy (and they may know the real reason, whereas we do not) and are loyal to their oath, it’s those who ordered them sworn to secrecy and provided the ‘coverup’.
