We will not send our child to public schools.

And I have seen the same reaction that Obama stated in the article. One person told me the State has a duty to educate the child according to its purposes, and that if I didn’t like the schools in my area I should save up and move.

She was a young, liberal, crazy cat lady.

My reaction to this article was that he does not see children as the responsibility of the parents, but rather tools of the State, and that parents should really have no say in how they choose to educate their children. They are part of the collective. While he sends his own daughters to an elite private school, did he not advocate the end of the school choice program in DC? If you pay attention to him, he shows who he really is. The scary thing is, like the person you mentioned, some think this is a good idea. A woman from my church who is from Germany talked about how the State gradually weened children from the influence of their parents. This is what he is doing here.
