Descending from the heavens for the G8 summit at beautiful Lough Erne this week, President Obama caused some amusement to his British hosts. The chancellor of the exchequer had been invited to give a presentation to the assembled heads of government on the matter of tax avoidance (one of the big items on the agenda, for those of you who think what the IRS could really use right now is even more enforcement powers). The president evidently enjoyed it. Thrice, he piped up to say how much he agreed with Jeffrey, eventually concluding the presentation with the words, Thank you, Jeffrey. Unfortunately, the chancellor of the exchequer is a bloke called George Osborne, not Jeffrey Osborne. President Obama subsequently apologized for confusing George with Jeffrey, who was a popular vocal artiste back in the Eighties when Obama was dating his composite girlfriend and making composite whoopee to the composite remix of Jeffrey Osbornes 1982 smoocheroo, On the Wings of Love.
Thanks to the stork delivering his bundle to Miss Kardashian (see above), Americans seem not to have noticed that the U.S. has just lost yet another war. But in Moscow, Beijing, Tehran, they noticed, and they will act accordingly. On the wings of love, up and above the clouds, Obama wafts ever higher on his own gaseous uplift. Down on solid ground, the rest of the world must occasionally wonder if they havent confused the U.S. delegation with the worlds most empty-headed boy band.

I got a few chuckles out of this essay. A good production!
Because he can't just shut his yap and let somebody else talk. Look at me, look at me!
I can’t believe that America has let this bastard son of a bitch destroy our Country and our way of life!
Here’s what the Irish think of OBayMe:
Money line from the column. Since World War II, this country is now
0-3-1. Unless you count the Iraq & Afghanistan a two different wars. Then we are 0-4-1.
The real sad part is all 4 were lost in the last two minutes of the fourth quarter by Washingtoon.
Thanks! I listened to every word and sent her a note of thanks for saying what the press here in the US either refuses, or is afraid to say!
Sad, but true.
We’re captive to the world’s weakest leader. As weak as water, says Mrs. Slocombe.
Even those who were perennially bitter at the US may be aghast that, governmentally at least, it has gone daft like this.
Even water can be pretty strong with energy behind it. And it’s the wrong guy’s energy.
I’m embarrassed to say I missed the story about “the unfortunate Las Vegas man with the worlds biggest scrotum, weighing 140 pounds, yet unable to perform”. Steyn’s column knocked the “what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas” meme out of the park.
Could’ve been worse...that guy could’ve confused George with Ozzie....
From the sublime to the gratuitous.
Almost all of it LOL funny.
Thanks for the link. That brogue and monologue was music to my ears. All of my grandparents came from Eire.
Steyn at his finest. Thanks.
...and deeper in remorse for our country.
There was a time when the world loved what they thought he was -- or might become. Now, they know better. They think we don't. So, they laugh at him. And they laugh at us.
And that is not a good thing. In the end, it's going to cost a lot of blood and treasure.
A Steyn classic.
I offer Dancing with the Stars and CNN, CBS, NBC, ABC news as evidence.
