As the 94-year-old anti-apartheid icon Nelson Mandela lies in a hospital bed, desperately clinging to life, some extremists, racialists, alarmists and others have expressed fears that his likely imminent death will trigger widespread bloodshed in South Africa, namely the mass murder of the white minority.
Even the respected Independent Online recently published a story with the headline “Whites Fear Mayhem After Mandela’s Death,” which alleges that there is a “widespread” fear that blacks will start killing whites as soon as Mandela expires.
Independent Online indicated that “thousands” of websites exist that purport to warn South Africa’s whites that they are doomed and that the country will sink into complete anarchy. Some white supremacy groups in the country, which claim to represent the 9 percent of the population who formerly ruled the rest, warn that white families must protect themselves from black marauders and that the ruling African National Congress took away their guns as a means of enabling their mass slaughter.

That's a piteous situation. I'd advise those whites to just get OUTA there. For their own safety. It's not worth getting killed by instant mayhem.

Hopefully this prediction will be as wrong as the ones about Y2K, but I’m not optimistic.

All it would take would be a charismatic communist to come on the scene and make the S.A. Whites a scapegoat for any problems.

I know that because I have had friends in South Africa. One was responsible for exposing Winnie Mandela and her Necklacing.
I said “white liberals” are in for a dose of reality.
Letting the unabashed adoration and ultimate canonization of this brutal, evil man go unanswered in the 80s is right near the top of my “What the hell were we thinking???” list.
When he does finally kick off, I’m going to relive the whole nauseating lie all over again. Guess I should keep the TV off for a couple of weeks.

I hate to say this, but the man is 94 years old, basically out of it, has probably lived almost three times as long as his average peers, and considering his harsh life, must be made of some pretty tough stuff. If he dies, he will have lived a full life and at least the latter part of it was pretty good by any standard.
But this recent vigil is starting to sound like Franco again.
