Zimmerman Trial Day 2 – Analysis of State’s Witnesses (BONUS: hilarious tweets of Prosecution woes)
legalinsurrection.com ^ | Tuesday, June 25, 2013 | Andrew Branca

Posted on 06/25/2013 6:59:19 PM PDT by jiggyboy

Today can only be characterized as an utter debacle for the prosecution in Florida v. Zimmerman. Besides the testimony of a couple of highly professional law enforcement witnesses, the testimony of the the other State witnesses ranged from signing George Zimmerman’s praises, to acknowledging the utility of following a suspicious person from a distance, to being utterly discredited by razor sharp cross-examination of the defense.

- snip -

...it hardly seems that a half-dozen recordings of Zimmerman calmly phoning the police precisely as he had been instructed by them can much advance their charges of second degree murder.

- snip -

The next, shall we say, interesting witness called by the State, and the last witness of the day, was Selene Bahadoor. She was one of the residents of Twin Lakes whose townhouse bordered on the scene of the altercation between Zimmerman and Martin, and who took note of the event as it happened. As such, she was really the first substantive witness to date who would, purportedly, be able to share some direct knowledge of the events as they unfolded.

O’Mara handled the cross-examination of Bahadoor, and it was very quickly apparent that this person who had promised to be the State’s star witness of the day–and perhaps of the entire trial–was about to be have her testimony and credibility utterly, indeed humiliatingly, crushed before the jury.

O’Mara then asked if it would be fair to say that Bahadoor had sympathy for the Martin family. “I have sympathy for both families,” she answered, somewhat aloof.

“But,” noted O’Mara, “you “liked” the Facebook page for the Martin family, but not the Facebook page for the Zimmerman family.”

Already have. The tone is set. Cases are usually won or lost on the first day of testimony. The prosecution flailed. It is all but done.

She was a very professional witness, or she was unnaturally mechanical.

I'd say it was both.

Maybe, just maybe, it had something to do with the fact that she is USED TO TESTIFYING IN COURT, and KNOWS WHAT SHE IS SUPPOSED TO DO. Like, answer questions simply and directly.

My only objection to JIGGYBOY's Comment is that he implied she was a retard because of her looks.

That has nothing to do with her testimony, does it ?

Watched the entire testimony of the one witness. The persecution would have to do a lot better than that to have any prayer at all.

I don’t know if ANYONE ELSE WATCHED ANY OF THE TRIAL or THE VIDEOS AT THE LINK.... but witness Bahadoor DEMONSTRATED the ‘flailing arms’ to the jury. She had her fists clenched and was rolling them like someone beating on something in front of them. She also mentioned it was a very ‘fast’ motion.

(shades of M.M.A. beatdown)

I thought I recalled some photos of George that clearly showed his face exploded and blood everywhere before they cleaned him up.

I think Ms Backdoor gave us a clue about who was fighting out her backdoor. She said she saw “arms flailing”. That could have only been one person — Bernie.

BTW we have waited long enough:

WE WANT DEEDEE — WE WANT DEEDEE WE WANT DEEDEE — WE WANT DEEDEE WE WANT DEEDEE — WE WANT DEEDEE WE WANT DEEDEE — WE WANT DEEDEE WE WANT DEEDEE — WE WANT DEEDEE

No more stalling, Bernie. It’s time to end your career with a comedy routine.

The jury consists of 6 women. Nine times of out of ten, they’ll fall down on the side of emotion over logic.

I fear you may be right. But a breakdown of married vs. single might be a good predictor as well.

She was coached to answer the question as tersely as possible and to not volunteer any info.

She was TRAINED to DO HER JOB, and not to just MOUTH HER OWN OPINIONS and ramble on. Apparently you have never been to a criminal trial and listened to the testimony of trained Law Enforcement Officers or Supportive Staff. Her job not only includes tagging evidence, but TESTIFYING IN COURT afterward. She has done this REPEATEDLY for over 6 years.

Her husband is a Sanford cop btw.

Which was brought up during questioning. Out in the open. No surprise.

BTW, her 'testimony' and the 'evidence' she collected is proving Zimmerman is not guilty.

Exactly...never heard of a vigilante “murderer” calling the police 4 times....giving his location and phone number...telling where they can meet him when they get there...BEFORE he commits 2nd degree murder..ridiculous charges.

“Apparently you have never been to a criminal trial and listened to the testimony of trained Law Enforcement Officers or Supportive Staff.”

I would say your ability to discern my experiences is woefully inadequate. I say coached, you say trained...the result is the same...don’t volunteer info, don’t go beyond the point of the question.

BTW, I had a stellar 29 year LEO career.

I thought she answered every question in a clear and concise manner....for hours. She is trained to testify in court so no emotion. Just the facts.

The only reason you are saying that is because you actually watched the trial, or the video on the LINK provided by this thread.

The prosecution flailed.

It's that DEADLY SILENCE part where the prosecutor is trying to figure out what to do next because everything's going straight to hell that was most telling.

This happened repeatedly today.

Who is Bernie?

Ms. Bahadoor demonstrated to the jury the 'flailing arms' that she saw. Did you see that part ?

It corresponds to another witnesses 'report' that Trayvon was 'wailing' on Zimmerman Mixed Martial Arts Style. Complete with clenched fists.

True. It was limited to one 'supportive' response where you seemed to agree with the other poster that this witness was a retard who was told what to say.

I say coached, you say trained...the result is the same...don’t volunteer info, don’t go beyond the point of the question.

Which is exactly what she is trained to do, and has experience doing. So... It seems you agree with me.

I apologize for misinterpreting your original comment. I thought you were jumping on the IDIOT bandwagon.

But it’s what happens when witnesses are manipulated and the government prosecution could care less about the truth.

By the way, I’ll never forget that national speech Corey gave, and how she attempted paint z as guilty in front of the media, as she winked and smiled while talking about truth and fairness, assuring z would get a fair trial. That woman is an evil political puppet, out for her own gain.

Based on what I have read and saw on the 2nd day of the trial, the governemnt prosecution is losing big.

It’s like FOX and NBC and ABC have never been in a courtroom before.

They think that the direct examination by an arm-flapping prosecutor leading the witnesses word for word through their testimony so they don’t say anything off cue is all there is to the witness testimony.

They conveniently forget all about the cross examination when all the lies, prefabrications, witness tampering, perjury, obfuscations, forgetfulness, and prosecutorial misconduct is exposed.

The defense attorneys have very calm, soothing voices, and are being very successful making their points in non-confrontational ways. The one prosecutor has a VERY irritating voice and demeanor.

Everyone has a ‘tell’.

I noticed one of the lawyers brings his hands together and rubs his fingertips back and forth against each other. He does this when he doesn’t know what to ask next because the witness isn’t giving the answers that were expected.

Have you seen other trials where Mrs. Smith has testified?

Do you think the Prosecutor might have asked that she wear her work uniform to establish 'visible credibility' ?

The police officers wore their 'work uniforms', did they not ?

Just a reminder that this trial is not about justice but politics. And in politics, the truth doesn’t matter.

The race-baiters and hustlers are “all-in” on the outcome of this show trial. Expect violence-inciting rhetoric from these people if they don’t get a conviction.

i also bookmarked legal insurrection to keep tabs on it. to read the answers was cringe worthy and it must have been nearly impossible for the defense to sit there with a straight face, and not get all giddy, knuckle-bump and do an end zone dance.

They really should start planning for the riots. I think QuickCrete dries in like 12 hours, so they can pretty much wall off the city before the jury get the case? /s

I think this is the first thread I’ve posted on this case. I don’t know if I’ll be posting any more, just because I don’t know if I’ll be posting on any given day.

Check my first response for people who might have ping lists, or search for zimmerman as a keyword or in a title and you’ll certainly be in a better position to be informed on an ongoing basis.

At least a day would be better — very hot and humid in FL in July.

I’m still waiting for widespread use of some kind of goo I saw on one of those “tech of the future” shows a little while back. They shoot it at your legs and within a couple of seconds it’s so sticky and gloppy that you can barely walk and you’re starting to stick to the ground. Probably a lot of potential problems are keeping it off the market for now — falling over and drowning in it comes to mind immediately.
