Witness: Zimmerman on Bottom of Fight

A prosecution witness testified in the George Zimmerman trial Friday that he saw the former neighborhood watch captain on the bottom of a mixed martial arts-style fight with 17-year-old Trayvon Martin the night Martin was fatally shot.

Jonathan Good said he heard a faint noise coming from the back of his home in the Retreat at Twin Lakes on Feb. 26, 2012. When he heard a louder noise, he went outside to investigate. He said he saw two men engaged in a “tussle”...

Good was the 17th witness to take the stand in the trial of Zimmerman, who is charged with second-degree murder in the shooting of Martin in Sanford, Florida. Zimmerman told police he followed the teenager because there had been some recent break-ins in the area. He says he was forced to shoot Martin during their confrontation in self-defense.

On the trial’s fifth day, Good recounted being 15 to 20 feet away from the fight between Zimmerman and Martin. Although he couldn’t make out the faces of the people on the ground, Good said he could make out the color of their clothes.

In crucial testimony that appears to buttress the defense’s argument, Good said the person on top during the fight was wearing a black top like the black hoodie sweatshirt Martin had on that night, and the person on the bottom was wearing red. Zimmerman was wearing a similar color that night.

Good said it seemed like the person on the bottom was yelling for help. Good said he saw the person on top “straddling” the person on the bottom and the person on top was moving their hands in a downward striking motion that looked like what he called a “ground and pound,” a term associated with MMA or mixed martial arts fighting.

What kind of country have we become that feral inner city animals will riot if a Latin who dispatched a 17-y/o thug is acquitted?

Zimmerman was the one running after Martin.

For around four months, maybe 20 years ago, I had nothing to do but wait. I watched a lot of “Court TV”.

I am not sure of the right word. Maybe it is shocked but whatever I decided I never want to go before an American jury, at least if I am innocent.

Not shocking, but I think some people believe the wounds to the back of Zimmerman’s head were self-inflicted. So this is actually an important witness.

Does anyone else get the idea that the prosecution is intentionally throwing this case?

Yes.

The masses demanded a trial, so the public servants complied. I don't really see it as the prosecutors throwing the trial as I see that they have very little to work with.

This is what happens when you have a prosecution team that was never interested in the truth, all they wanted to do was please the race baiters and give them what they wanted..as far as Im concerned the case is already over..all the defense needs is reasonable doubt and Zimmerman walks and there is so much doubt in this case it can fill a room..Zimmerman should NEVER have been charged to begin with

Well, I get the idea that at least in some sense the prosecution wishes it would go away, that they can see they are between a rock and a hard place.

I have not seen any evidence that should convict Zimmerman. It is a political witch-hunt. I don’t know why the judge just does not throw out the case...there is no incriminating evidence.

And a long weekend for the jury, too.

What a lasting impression those witnesses made, one that likely will last all weekend and all the way to "case dismissed".

And, what a gift this trial has been!

So many of our problems are on display for all to witness and examine, and whose testimonies all point to the same cause and verdict.

If only we could be our own more enlightened, higher information jury of peers with the eyes to see and the ears to hear.

I have seen many political sure wins fail.
For all the legal wrangling, just need 6 people to say one word.
This administration knows how to persuade the few who do in fact hold power.

Gee, the prosecution witness seems to be saying George Zimmerman TOLD THE TRUTH.

George Zimmerman’s attacker got shot. George Zimmerman was the victim.

The state isn't intentionally throwing the case. It is just presenting a case that was politically demanded...and such case is losing.

Ergo, the state has done it's job...don't blame us.

Abolutely not!

The prosecution is doing their very best to send GZ to prison for the rest of his life. They will suborn perjury, lie, distort, impugn, whatever is necessary to achieve their intended goal.

These are contemptible men without honor, truly vile humans to whom their own personal & political gain trumps any morality or desire to seek justice.

Wow. That would be a powerful statement by a corrupt administration.

If Obama intervenes...he will move revolution nearer the start button.
