Michelle Obama: 'Prison-Like Elements' to Being First Lady, 'But It's a Really Nice Prison'
Weekly Standard ^ | 2 July 2013 | Daniel Halper

Posted on 07/02/2013 6:02:37 AM PDT by Rummyfan

In Tanzania, Michelle Obama joked about the "prison-like elements" of being first lady. "[B]ut it's a really nice prison," she said. "You can't complain."

Seat with Laura Bush, Michelle Obama said that wives of presidents "have probably the best job in the world, because while our husbands ... have to react and respond to crises on a minute-to-minute basis, we got to work on what we're passionate about. ... I have just found it a very freeing and liberating opportunity. ... [Laughing] There are prison-like elements, but it's a really nice prison. You can't complain. There are confining elements ... While people are sorting through our shoes and our hair ... whether we cut it or not ... We take our bangs and we stand in front of important things the world needs to see. And eventually people stop looking at the bangs, and start looking at the things we're standing in front of. That's the power of our role," according to quotations provided by Mike Allen.

She certainly has a way with words hasn’t she. Must have enhanced her lexicon, and foot-in-mouth being around Biden.

She, and her husband are embarrassments to this Nation. I hope those that voted for them are damned ashamed of themselves now.

Shove it, Michelle.

Your husband is an uneducated narcissistic cretin and you wanted someone who did as little work and has as little talent as did you.

You married well, you ignorant sl**.

The first b*tch can spend hundreds of millions of dollars jet setting around the world on her shopping trips but they can’t find the money to keep the WH tour operating? Hell, if she skipped just one day of her spending tour the WH tours could operate for a decade. But no, she thinks only of herself and her personal pleasure.

exactly, concerts, vacations, banquets, taking family on our dime but the military bases can’t have a fireworks show, cuts to military, OUR white house is closed while they dine there on our dime.

I would like to know why the hell the GOP is not making more of this and get away form this pathetic amnesty.

No one can make you ‘happy’.

No situation can make you ‘happy’.

Not even the life of a Queen can make you ‘happy’.

Fulfillment, joy, and satisfaction are the products of a Spirit led life.

I hope those that voted for them are damned ashamed of themselves now. No way would that hope be filled. I post on my small town newspaper's website, where I once referred to her as "Mooch-chelle". I was ripped every which way but loose for doing so.

The things you mention are bad enough——but when they furlough the nurses tending our wounded at Walter Reed —that is beyond the pale.

They just handed 7 Bill to the Africans-—1 billion of which will go to new power plants —the rest in the pockets of some Malawa Mugabooboo.

Most of us women who would find ourselves "confined" in the White House would view it as a historical, lovely, awe-inspiring, comfortable, unusual, cheerful, exciting, fascinating, inspiring, happy place to live with our families for a temporary period of time in our otherwise mundane lives.

Moochelle, with her unshakeable ghetto mindset, views it as a sometimes "prison". Maybe it IS to her, but the fact that she has to bring it up for the world to hear shows her unshakeable lack of class and judgement.

There's always SOMETHING bad to say about our country, isn't there, Moochelle! Your husband does the same thing when he travels the country and the world.

Teeeheeeeee, it can be sooo frustrating to send an attendant to pop out to shop for me, or order the best food in the world from a chef, or never have to wash a piece of clothing or scrub a toilet.

Boy, I just really wished I lived the REAL life. It’s like a PRISON!

Yep, the whole amnesty debacle has made that abundantly clear. In no manner does the GOP represent or advocate traditional, conservative, heartland values. It really is time for a new party. Yes it would lose for a while but then it might catch fire so to speak. Anyway we’re losing time and time again as things now stand. Even worse, being in the GOP tent seems to be crushing the spirit of a lot of folks, I know it has weighed on me.
