Lavishly refitted D-Day warship, Christina O, on sale for $34-million
National Post ^ | July 3, 2013 | Randy Boswell

The fabled Christina O, once a Canadian warship that helped launch the historic D-Day assault before its transformation into the world’s most luxurious yacht, has been put up for sale by its current ownership consortium — 70 years to the month after beginning its storied life at a Montreal shipyard as HMCS Stormont.

Purchased after the Second World War by Greek shipping magnate Aristotle Onassis, the lavishly refitted ship played host to world leaders such as Winston Churchill and John F. Kennedy, served as a super-swanky party boat for Marilyn Monroe, Frank Sinatra and other iconic entertainers and became the backdrop for its billionaire owner’s famous romances with opera star Maria Callas and Kennedy’s widow, Jacqueline.

Now, after being used variously over the past 10 years as an exclusive charter yacht, opera-themed cruise ship and downtown London tourist attraction, the 99-metre vessel that ferried Canadian troops to their fates on the coast of Normandy in June 1944 could be yours for about $34-million.

Hey, maybe Obumbo will buy it, he has been doing wonderfully throwing away American Taxpayer dollars on useless projects and enemies of America so as not to spend it on American children or troops.

This should be a museum—take it to Florida or Someplace and make it a tourist trap. bet its haunted too. Maybe do cruises to Bahamas or something.

Wow. Nice to be reminded on one who missed the scrap yard. I found a link to a rent-a-yacht sort of place, it may be an old listing, but has amazing pics of the interior. First time posting a link here, so we’ll see if it works.
