I was on a jury where the old man's car hit a kid that darted in front of him in a mall parking lot. Couple broken bones, the parents sued.

Due to the cut-and-dried evidence and eye-witnesses, we eleven jurors had our minds made up before we ever hit the deliberation room. Unanimous vote for acquittal for the old boy on the first and only vote.

However, we sat around discussing the case, drinking coffee and generally chewing the fat for a couple hours before calling the bailiff in to tell him we were ready.

We wanted it to look like we REALLY deliberated for a goodly length of time, of course....and while we were dead serious and reasoned in our thinking and verdict.... we felt we owed it to both sides to stay in the deliberation room for a reasonably lengthy period of time as to not appear frivolous or irresponsible.

This happens more than folks think it does.

Will there be information after the verdict on what each individual jury member decided - guilty or not guilty?
