Downey is the hometown of the Carpenters.

Funny you should mention that. I was listening to some old Carpenters stuff last night on youtube. And reading about Karen on Wikipedia.

You haven’t made it big until you have played Bellflower.

Jonathan Montoya, front office manager of the Comfort Inn, said the theft happened very quickly,

I wouldn't leave my camera in my car parked at a Comfort Inn. Come to think of it, I wouldn't stay at a Comfort Inn.

And the Space Shuttle.

Downey? The Space Shuttles were built in Palmdale.

Downey was incorporated in 1956, and instituted a charter form of government in 1964. Suburban homes and factories replaced the farms after World War II. The largest employer was what became known as Vultee Aircraft, then North American Aviation, (later North American Rockwell, then Rockwell International which was then bought by the Boeing company) whose facilities were the birthplace of the systems for the Apollo space program as well as the Space Shuttle.

Downey is also the final resting place (home, if you will) of the Columbia.

These guys have been on the road for 30 years and they don’t have enough brains to have the tshirt guy sleep in the van?

If you leave anything larger than a car at a motel, it will be stolen.

I saw the Queen of England when she visited Rockwell’s Downey facility in 1983. I just happened to be there that day.

I’ve played lots of gigs with my band. I NEVER EVER leave any gear in the truck. I take it in the hotel room or leave some set up at the venue sometimes. I always worry about it no matter where it’s at. You’re never safe from thieves on the road.

A buddy of mine went to a club Sunday night to play at a jam night. When he came out, the tailgate was gone from his truck.

My truck has a locking lid so it acts like a locked trunk. I still wouldn’t leave my gear in there.

We — the USA — is officially a Third-World Country. No better, no worse. It was bound to happen — the Democrats became Socialists and the Republicans became the old Democrats — so the system was rigged for the US to become European Socialists.

Enjoy America!
