The White House on Wednesday condemned a Republican congressman’s assertion that many immigrants brought illegally to the U.S. as kids are actually running drugs.

White House press secretary Jay Carney said the comments from Rep. Steve King, R-Iowa, “were extremely unfortunate, and I think a number of people have pointed out that they were offensive.”

“They certainly don’t help any efforts by Republicans to improve their standing among Hispanic Americans, I would assume,” Carney told reporters aboard Air Force One as the president traveled to deliver an economic speech in Galesburg, Ill. …

Mainstream media now has to say “immigrants brought illegally to the US” as though it was totally against their will.

In fairness, they typically say “brought” when referring to kids.

As always, I appreciate Jay Carney’s concern for the political fortunes of the Republican Party. Good grief.

Touching concern for the GOP, eh?

If the Republicans think they can, or even should, try to "improve their standing among Hispanics", they are stupider than I thought.

Especially amongst the Hispanic Americans who are running drugs across the border.

Never mind Carney’s blatant insult towards Hispanic Americans, implying that they all back illegal immigration.

I stand corrected on that point.

Although I have to reiterate that it is not even totally against their will in all cases, such as they have the capacity to exercise.

I hope Steve King stands by his statement. It’s about time we started saying that there is an underclass within the hispanic community that’s involved in crime, and a large percentage of it is people who are here illegally.

They don’t. That doesn’t matter to them. What matters is keeping their cushy jobs. If they vote the right way, the Rats, no, the government will make sure they keep their jobs. This is no longer a Rat vs GOP political fight. It’s We the People vs the Government.

yes and the ap spin is laughable.

what king means is that the kids of illegal immigrants, who are by definition lawless, often become drug mules or lookouts for their gang parents. not controversial at all but a fact.

yet the GOP and DEMS who are their own illegal gang (the D.C. party) are just using their SOP alinskiite procedure trying as usual to destroy a good conservative.

Yo! Barry! You did come from Kenya, but you should know something about the U. S. if you’re going to pretend to be it’s president.

For the White Hut, a flat denial means they don’t know. “Unfortunate” means that an allegation might be true. “Offensive” is an admission.

Meanwhile the Obama Administration illegally ran guns to narcoterrorists, observed the deaths of thousands, and lied to Congress about their involvement.
