Freeper Voter Registration Requirement Question

Posted on 07/27/2013 10:57:48 AM PDT by 56newblog

Your comments please on whether you agree or not on this American Voter Registration procedure.

I consider myself a normal U.S. Citizen (my wife may disagree). Whether I am Caucasian, Hispanic, Asian, African American (This is a term I disagree with since the “entire” Human Race is of African origin). All of the above should be termed “American” regardless of ethnicity.

1. Everyone of voting age and that is a legal US citizen that wishes to participate in voting in public elections, Federal and Local, should have an “authorized” Voter I.D. card.

2. The VID card could be obtained at the Local DMV office. Would only have to be replaced when the Voter has a change of resident Address. (In my case the card would be 34 years old and my picture might be questionable)

3. Each VID card should have the persons

a. Current Physical address of place of residence

b. Picture of Voter AND

c. Thumb Print of Voter.

There is already a system in place throughout ALL 50 states that can register that Thumb Print and complete a verification of the print via more capable computers. This step would not have to be completed at time of voting, BUT can be completed within a 72 hour period to confirm whether “this” print was used more than once for a particular election at the same or different voting locations. (Could also control wrongful voting by those with multiple resident addresses)

My question is WHY WOULD THIS BE CONSIDERED AN INVASION OF PRIVACY OR RESTRICTION of Your Right to Vote??

The Local Governments can make considerations to get those people who cannot get to DMV either because of legitimate economic and/or physical limitations get a VID. This would need to be done only with initial registration and whenever there is a change of address. The ONLY ones I think would have a problem with this are those who have Criminal Intent or those who have been involved with past or present criminal activities. I do not see where a law-abiding citizen would have a problem with leaving a picture and thumb print with government agencies.. Am I missing a “bigger” picture??

I don't understand how the feds can constitutionally get in the way of state voter ID laws.

The states, not the national government determine voter qualifications.

Article I § 2: “The House of Representatives . . . chosen every second year by the people of the several states and the Electors in each State shall have the Qualifications requisite for Electors of the most numerous Branch of the State Legislature.”

Notwithstanding age, and other amendments regarding race, gender, the states may set any other qualifications as they wish. Proving the identify of an elector is fully within the purview of the states per the constitution. As a sideline, if the constitution in 1787 had national elector qualifications, it would have been rejected.

It isn’t a restriction on any persons privacy.

No, you’re not missing anything. Blacks and Democrats like to trot out some little old lady 90-100 years old who was a slave or some such who just can’t, can’t get no ID card. It be just too tough!

The truth is this little old lady has been getting absentee ballots for years, or she and her sister girls all go down to every precinct their nephews can take them and vote all day long. They vote often, proud and blatantly controntational.

There is no reason at all why anyone can’t get a free ID issued to them. They don’t want one because they can’t cheat then. Just that simple.

I believe both of our neighbors,Canada and Mexico, require voter ID to vote. Should be a no-brainer. When you have to have an ID to do almost anything, what sense does it make to not have one for our most important activity as Americans. But of course, if we had voter ID it would be much more difficult for Democrats to cheat and steal elections as they have been doing at least since LBJ and his first senate bid.

This will not win e many friends BUT, in my opinion it is too damn easy to vote in this country and that is why we get politicians that keep voting to give away the farm and the ranch and the suburb and the town. Rules that will cure most of our voting problems 1) Only property owners allowed to vote.
2) Literacy test for every election 3) Poll Taxes (maybe)

WHY WOULD THIS BE CONSIDERED AN INVASION OF PRIVACY OR RESTRICTION of Your Right to Vote??

Because it would stop the Democrat Party from cheating; they’d never win another national election.

I am not sure I want to outsource voter registration to the SEIU employees at the DMV.

We have seen everything else the Left touches perverted.

(government schools are reliably leftists, news organizations are even more leftist)

Why would the DMV be resistant to leftist infiltration?

You have a pretty low opinion of their imagination. Sure they can cheat.

They can use control of the DMV to deny your vote.
They can use control of the DMV to issue multiple voter IDs to their reliable partisans.

They can enforce the requirement for a voter ID against you.
They can look the other way as one of their voters either uses the same ID over and over, or just create ballots from nothing.

My requirements would differ only slightly from yours.
1. Military Veteran ( Honorable Discharge or active duty).
2. Property or Business Owner.
3. A passing score of 90% or better on the American Civic Literacy Test.
4. Currently employed or credible employment history.
If you don’t have skin in the game you should not be eligible to vote. And of course a documentable citizen of the United States.

Would not the Thumbprint requirement curtail “most” of the current abuses??

It would seem that eventually it would be bring out the culprits so they would have to pay their $10.00 fine for doing so..

Make the VIDs free if necessary. Close down all new registrations 2 weeks before Election Day to allow for comparisons of voter rolls

The Supreme Court agreed with and for Indiana and Georgia that Voter ID is not an infringement of any registered voter's Civil Rights, as protected by the Constitution and enforcing legislation.

All new Voter ID laws, I believe, are in accord with these now-vetted laws in place for years, now.

So the Voter ID "controversy" is moot, merely one of a number of gibbering ghost stories told to the credulous in order for Race Pimps to divide them from their money.

I am on 02 24/7. I live in TN. I stood in line at the DMV to get a picture ID because older than 60 you are no required to have one on your license. Then when it came time to vote there was such a fuss raised from the Dems that a library card was accepted.

The problem isn't fraud in elections - sure, it exists, and it can actually swing a close race, but really, that isn't what is killing us.

What is killing us is the lack of a choice when going to the ballot box. Where you have RomneyCare vs ObamaCare, or Give Away McCain vs Obama. Where you have too many ‘big tent’ Republicans who believe that the only way to win an election is to be as much like a liberal as possible while still carrying the GOP mark.

So you end up with an electorate who breaks down into a few categories - the ‘I vote in every election, it is my patriotic duty’ who simply votes by party line. You have ‘gimme more stuff’ who waits until the last moment until some giveaway gets them on a bus to the polling location for voting and dining afterward. You have the idealist, who is voting because they believe in whom they are voting for (or against.) And you have the near majority of the electorate who stays home, having long ago noticed that liberal or conservative, almost always they are actually liberal.

Fighting over close results only means you've already lost the battle to begin with. Present candidates who take a strong conservative stand, and you have a shot of blowing out the opposition.
