Some Chinese investors fly to Detroit without notice and phone Chen from the airport. She recommends that they hire a taxi to drive them through downtown Detroit. She says most of them do not call her back. Once they see the areas where the properties are, they give up.

Although Americans probably have no money to invest in the first place, I think that the Chinese probably understand the return on investment of sweat equity with respect to investing in fixer-uppers better than Americans do.

Many Chinese think Detroit housing is a great investment

For a few relocated 100,000 million Chinese "troops" who can't find women in China it's a brilliant idea.

Houses in Detroit might be a great buy if enough Chinese citizens moved there... The Chinese would clean the place up, start 500 business - of which 499 would succeed - and have the best schools in the nation by the 10th year.

From this distance (Nevada) I’d say, more power to ‘em. Like the Korean shop owners, they know the meaning of hard work and long hours. Enough of ‘em get in, they will turn the place around and be a major plus for America.

Like the Vietnamese immigrants, their kids will end up class valedictorians in four years. A generation or two later their kids will be called “Martha” instead of “Showana”, etc.

I say that last as once I was on assignment in Hawaii and we had a the son of a Chinese guy as a computer operator. We had to work late one night and he said he had to tell his wife that he would be late to dinner. He called. I expected him to say something like “Hello, Ming?” Instead, he said, “Martha?” Thus dieth another stereotype.

Now, you bring 50,000 ChiComs to Detroit and you’ll revive that town. They know how to work and they know how to get around corrupt government. Win-Win.

Detroit is similar to a environmental Superfund cleanup site. Instead of an environmental problem it is a cultural cesspool. You could never rebuild Detroit with the same people there that destroyed it.
The only way to rebuilt Detroit is to make it like Singapore. Wall off the city and make it a city nation. Then chase off the welfare culture( no government benefits). Low Taxation and minimal regulation and in a few years that place would be back to an industrial superpower.
