On Friday, the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) announced a national initiative it titles “Trayvon’s Law,” designed to “end racial profiling, repeal stand your ground laws, form effective civil complaint review boards to provide oversight of police misconduct, improve training for community watch groups, mandate law enforcement to collect data on homicide cases involving non-whites, and address the school to prison pipeline,” according to CEO Ben Jealous.

Jealous said, “What happened to Trayvon Martin must never happen again. Trayvon’s Law will serve as the foundation for community advocates as they work to end laws and practices that contributed to his death and to create new policies that will prevent further tragedies.”

The NAACP has yet to explain how the George Zimmerman case was related to racial profiling, stand your ground, or police misconduct.

Question: If there had been NO “stand your ground” law would Zimmerman have been required to crawl out from UNDER “Saint Trayvon” and flee the scene?

It appears to me that Zimmerman was not in a position to flee at all as the little thug was on top of him, holding Zimmerman down while beating the tar out of him.

Nevada might as well have a stand your ground law. They have a great ccw law, including awesome protections for women who think they are going to be sexually assaulted. Protection from civil litigation after a finding of justifiable defense. The NAACP is shifting the focus away from the cultural malaise of the blacks intrenched in the drug black market. It is this black market that has grown into a monster of illegal activities devouring our society with corruption and violence. Just ran across a column by Jason L. Riley (published in The Wall Street Journal on July 16, I only saw it today), giving his reactions to the Zimmerman trial. He points out that between 1976 and 2005, blacks committed more than half of all murders in the US. He closes with a quote from Martin Luther King, Jr., in 1961, in which King said that Negroes were 10% of the population of St. Louis but accounted for 58% of its crime.

Jason Riley is a black man--he appears on Fox News Channel. I believe his wife is white.

I will stand my ground and defend my life and my loved ones. I don’t care what the law says, what some limp wrist liberal a$$-hat thinks is right in some idealistic universe disconnected from reality. They are right though, things like TM shouldn’t happen.
