If my heart is with Paul Broun, my head is with Karen Handel.
Whoever the nominee is will face Michelle Nunn, the great white hope of the Georgia Democratic Party. A unified front the Democrats dont even have a gubernatorial candidate and a bankrupt party will throw its full weight behind her family name with a helping hand of Barack Obamas organizational skills. Her early reviews have captured the imagination of the geriatric press corps (those still with a pulse) who swooned over her father in his day as well as the younger, liberal reporter cubs on the scene. If the political press could vote for a candidate, Michelle Nunn would be it. And that may be her greatest weakness a false sense of security and superiority at the hand of a fawning press corps. She is a novice candidate, despite claims to the contrary. Polling showing her doing well misses that her last name would poll well against Jesus all across Georgia; at least till they realize its not really Sam who is running.

Don’t worry GA is red, red, red. Michelle Nunn ain’t Sam.
I like Karen Handel but we need Paul Broun. He is the guy who is hair on fire conservative. We need radical change in this country and he will go shoulder to shoulder with Cruz, Paul and Lee. My heart, head and vote are with Dr. Paul Broun.
Missouri was also supposedly red, red, red. And then Todd Akin said something stupid. Tell me you can’t see Paul Broun making the same mistake. Nunn is going to get mega-bucks from out of state and is going to hammer Broun on his remarks to try and paint him as an extremist. The media will also be working overtime to get him to say something.
I want strong conservatives in the senate (this is ignoring Broun’s questionable connections to Ron Paul), but if Broun implodes in the race against Nunn, we will lose the senate, and we will not be getting another shot at it for a long while. 2016 is a senate death trap for us.
The Alabama Democrat party is also bankrupt. Whomever become their next chairman has to figure out how to pay for almost 6 months of utility bills.
We will have to agree to disagree on this one. My vote is going to Paul Broun and by the way he is no Aiken. He will be a great senator.
As I have said before your chances of getting killed by a drone strike are better than the Dems winning that senate seat.
GA FReeper ping.
I saw Broun speak Saturday AM, and I do really like him.
I was thoroughly unimpressed with Handel when she ran for governor. If she wants my vote I suggest she go get a job running a for profit company and prove she’s not just another entitled life long office seeker.
What you’ve written about Handel is truth in print and sentiment. Shes a losing candidate who runs because shes never seen a cushy job she didnt want. No thank you.
Kingston is a friend of mine. One of the best men i know. I wont vote for him as Senator and i think 20 years in the House was far too long. Sorry, man.
Broun has a bad habit of saying exactly whats on his mind. No, not in a fun, awesome way. In a way that makes you embarrased you are within earshot.
Im still waiting and hoping for something......Herman Cain. I have a money bet that Cain will run. And i might vote for him.
Oh, and there is not one newspaper in GA that has a shred of credibility with the citizenry so the press opinion is irrelevant.
Nunn, who? What a joke. The democrats are pathetic in this state and it will take all of her cash to get votes inside 285. What else does she have? A joke.
My one defense of Karen Handel is that unlike the current crop of older Georgia nouveau-GOP politicians, she has the rare quality of being a Republican for a very long time. I give her credit for that alone.
But my heart and my mind go for Paul Broun. The bottom line here is that the GOP candidate wins the November race, so let's get the GOP candidate who most closely represents our sentiment. I don't often agree with Erickson, but in this regard he's got it right. Paul Brown is definitely the one who is not afraid to stand with Cruz, Lee, and Paul. And that is what we need more of right now.
As for Jack Kingston, if you want another Johnny Isakson, then Kingston is your man.
Broun is a quality guy, I helped him (when he was just in a primary in Augusta) with $50, I haven’t regretted one cent (He was even kind enough back then write me a HANDWRITTEN thank you note)!!
For his (Paul Broun’s) first congressional race in 2008 (that is)!
