A publicist who is also a mother is fed up with Hollywoods exploitation of sex. Rather than remain silent, she recently penned an epic blog post lampooning the entertainment industry and calling for Tinseltown and society, alike, to come to its moral senses.
It all started last week as Rebeca Seitz of Naples, Florida, was enjoying some morning television. As commercials began to air, she could hardly believe her eyes. While she was watching Good Morning America, an advertisement for the ABC show Betrayal came on, featuring a male and female in the midst of a steamy sex scene. The commercial for the show was apparently graphic, exposing her 8-year-old son to extremely unpalatable content.
Heres the image she captured and posted on her blog:
Seitz, a Christian, reacted to the scene by sending her son away, rewinding to be sure her eyes didnt deceive her and snapping a picture on her phone. She then uploaded the image to Facebook, where it was ironically taken down for violating the social networks standards (someone reported it and it was deemed inappropriate due to nudity).
The frustrated mother, who works in media and is the president of a public relations firm, posted the picture in an effort to spark a conversation about morality and standards and to voice her frustration and disbelief. When the Facebook post was removed, a friend suggested she take to her blog to document what unfolded, so she did.

Same problem on channels that otherwise have a lot of good programming (History, Discovery, etc.) It’s not the shows I worry about as much as the commercials.
We took TV out of the house on the birth of our first child MANY years ago. We have never missed it.
It’a amazing to me that during the World Series, they show ads for Cialis over and over again.
i don’t mind it as much in comparison to homosexual shows that pass as normal on network tv’s
no wonder i haven’t watch network tv’s in years.
As an aside, in one of life’s delightful little ironies, the first commercial I remember seeing for “natural male enhancement” was on ... the Sci-Fi channel.
While I support her First Amendment rights here I also disagree with her contacting the FCC to take action.
The correct response is to let the market, not Government, decide.
Wow. Having seen the picture, I see her point. That seems way out of line for a time when kids are watching.
I have mixed feelings here.
First of all... her 8 year old has seen and heard plenty worse at home and at school - on TV and the internet. If she gets all bunched up over this - then she better gear up for a whole lot more (worse) to come.
Having said that - she’s right. She might as well go pick up grains of sand and throw them back into the ocean as far as complaining about the filth and crap on TV and in our culture. But at least she took a stand.
I was disgusted in the middle of watching Winnie the friggin Pooh and a promo comes on for a show (on ABC FAMILY!!!) with very explicit teen sex scenes. Can’t grab the remote fast enough. I believe they do this purposely.
Not enough hard wood at the World Series - they gotta schill for more.
We are seeing all the effects of the demoraization of America from the ‘50’s forward coming to full fruit duing the last 5 years and it ain’t pretty...
Good for her! I am getting sick of it myself.
Yeah, that will bring Hollywood to their knees.
Every freakin’ football, golf, and baseball game the commercials are out of control. we have instituted policy now we are always about 30 minutes behind on the DVR so we can FF through all commercials.
The so called family channels are even worse. We block them all.
That mom is right-that commercial was on a network station-ABC, which is free access to anyone, any age.
The alphabet networks and PBS need to stay PC, in my opinion. History, Discovery, etc are cable/satellite channels, and not free-you pay for those every month if you have that service, so leave the more risqué stuff to those channels-no one forces subscription, and parental controls are available with your subscription. If I pay, I watch what I want-if I watch the free network stations, I expect it to be generic and suitable for all ages...
It is a medical fact that kid under the age of puberty simply cannot deal with mental images of any kind of sex (normal/marital or deviant)
This is damaging - permanently
We NEVER played network TV nor any TV news. I won’t play radio top of the hour news
I turn it off when we are in a waiting room and thank those places who keep the TV off
In a world that welcomes birth control as normal and healthy (neither of which it is) sex is seen and accepted by society as entertainment.
From there, the deviancy will increase infinitely
And there is no control over this that any one will be able to exert, but power to her, it can’t hurt
But turn that stuff OFF
The vast majority of “Christians” spend much more time watching the filth on TV and the computer than they do reading God’s Word, praying and going to worship.
We only have so many hours to live. When we are called upon to give an account of how we spent those hours, will it show we were really followers of Jesus?
Too many people remaining silent has led us to where we are now. Hell, she even admitted the FCC won’t do anything, and she’s right.
Just a thought ... a valid article but an NFSW addition to the headline would really help.
