A publicist who is also a mother is fed up with Hollywoods exploitation of sex. Rather than remain silent, she recently penned an epic blog post lampooning the entertainment industry and calling for Tinseltown and society, alike, to come to its moral senses.
It all started last week as Rebeca Seitz of Naples, Florida, was enjoying some morning television. As commercials began to air, she could hardly believe her eyes. While she was watching Good Morning America, an advertisement for the ABC show Betrayal came on, featuring a male and female in the midst of a steamy sex scene. The commercial for the show was apparently graphic, exposing her 8-year-old son to extremely unpalatable content.
Heres the image she captured and posted on her blog:
Seitz, a Christian, reacted to the scene by sending her son away, rewinding to be sure her eyes didnt deceive her and snapping a picture on her phone. She then uploaded the image to Facebook, where it was ironically taken down for violating the social networks standards (someone reported it and it was deemed inappropriate due to nudity).
The frustrated mother, who works in media and is the president of a public relations firm, posted the picture in an effort to spark a conversation about morality and standards and to voice her frustration and disbelief. When the Facebook post was removed, a friend suggested she take to her blog to document what unfolded, so she did.

Same problem on channels that otherwise have a lot of good programming (History, Discovery, etc.) It’s not the shows I worry about as much as the commercials.
We took TV out of the house on the birth of our first child MANY years ago. We have never missed it.
It’a amazing to me that during the World Series, they show ads for Cialis over and over again.
i don’t mind it as much in comparison to homosexual shows that pass as normal on network tv’s
no wonder i haven’t watch network tv’s in years.
As an aside, in one of life’s delightful little ironies, the first commercial I remember seeing for “natural male enhancement” was on ... the Sci-Fi channel.
While I support her First Amendment rights here I also disagree with her contacting the FCC to take action.
The correct response is to let the market, not Government, decide.
Wow. Having seen the picture, I see her point. That seems way out of line for a time when kids are watching.
I have mixed feelings here.
First of all... her 8 year old has seen and heard plenty worse at home and at school - on TV and the internet. If she gets all bunched up over this - then she better gear up for a whole lot more (worse) to come.
Having said that - she’s right. She might as well go pick up grains of sand and throw them back into the ocean as far as complaining about the filth and crap on TV and in our culture. But at least she took a stand.
I was disgusted in the middle of watching Winnie the friggin Pooh and a promo comes on for a show (on ABC FAMILY!!!) with very explicit teen sex scenes. Can’t grab the remote fast enough. I believe they do this purposely.
Not enough hard wood at the World Series - they gotta schill for more.
We are seeing all the effects of the demoraization of America from the ‘50’s forward coming to full fruit duing the last 5 years and it ain’t pretty...
Good for her! I am getting sick of it myself.
Yeah, that will bring Hollywood to their knees.
Every freakin’ football, golf, and baseball game the commercials are out of control. we have instituted policy now we are always about 30 minutes behind on the DVR so we can FF through all commercials.
The so called family channels are even worse. We block them all.
That mom is right-that commercial was on a network station-ABC, which is free access to anyone, any age.
The alphabet networks and PBS need to stay PC, in my opinion. History, Discovery, etc are cable/satellite channels, and not free-you pay for those every month if you have that service, so leave the more risqué stuff to those channels-no one forces subscription, and parental controls are available with your subscription. If I pay, I watch what I want-if I watch the free network stations, I expect it to be generic and suitable for all ages...
It is a medical fact that kid under the age of puberty simply cannot deal with mental images of any kind of sex (normal/marital or deviant)
This is damaging - permanently
We NEVER played network TV nor any TV news. I won’t play radio top of the hour news
I turn it off when we are in a waiting room and thank those places who keep the TV off
In a world that welcomes birth control as normal and healthy (neither of which it is) sex is seen and accepted by society as entertainment.
From there, the deviancy will increase infinitely
And there is no control over this that any one will be able to exert, but power to her, it can’t hurt
But turn that stuff OFF
The vast majority of “Christians” spend much more time watching the filth on TV and the computer than they do reading God’s Word, praying and going to worship.
We only have so many hours to live. When we are called upon to give an account of how we spent those hours, will it show we were really followers of Jesus?
Too many people remaining silent has led us to where we are now. Hell, she even admitted the FCC won’t do anything, and she’s right.
Just a thought ... a valid article but an NFSW addition to the headline would really help.
Or even NSFW. Dyslexia runs rampant.
I went to her bolg to see. Gee, she’s such a fuddy-duddy! Two people completely nude on her TV at 8AM when her 8-year-old can see it. What could be wrong with that? < /extreme sarc >
That pic she captured would probably run afoul of the Admin Moderator if it were posted here....
“enjoying some morning television”
If she’s a Christian that wants to shield her family from the evils of the world,
GET RID OF YOUR TELEVISION, or at least all external feeds to it.
The commercials during sports programming are terrible, and it’s been going on a long time. I remember a commercial for the awful show Allie McBeal that showed her jumping up on the face of a man.
This makes me furious. There are lots of young kids either watching major sports events or just in the room with adults when these networks (Fox being one of the worst) show their sleazy commercials for their sleazy shows. Just avoiding their trashy sitcoms doesn’t keep this garbage out of your living room
I know many people say just turn off the TV, but some of us like to watch some programs, so why should we be forced to watch smut along with the World Series?
“The correct response is to let the market, not Government, decide.”
You presume a free market exists for the media. Lol, that died over 40 years ago! With few exceptions television, movies, etc. have been a propaganda apparatus for many years.
When Leftists control the media they control the message.
If advertisers want exposure they have to play by the media’s rules. Ex.: Her posts being removed by Facebook.
As soon as Leftists control the medium they control the message.
There is no free market because there is no competition.
Yes they do do it purposely. It’s to garner more porn addicts. This was the subject of one of my first rants on FR, back in 2000 I think, when the Playboy Channel was allowed to exhibit itself to nonsubscribers by the Supreme Court. It is an invasion, and it has only gotten worse since then.
We had one Internet port when the kids were little. They were sent to school where I taught and knew what was going on.
We told them about this stuff when they were ready.
Now, they are bombarded with it at school media and on the Internet. And they can properly process it, fast forward it, and they recmize deviancy when they see it.
They have to. They’re going to be dealing with it until it runs its course and gets back to normal. And it will. Whether that’s a hundred yrs from now or not who knows
Russia has made it illegal to talk to kids about deviant sexual practices. Not through intolerance but to protect children from damaging psychological abuse
They are correct.
I don’t understand this. It’s like putting an open sewage pipe in your house and complaining when your living room gets soiled.
So pull the plug and leave cable TV to the pigs.

Wow, That was way above and beyond the normal steamy prurient images that pass for network television. She has every right to be steaming mad.
That is not acceptable on public airwaves at any time, let alone stinking 8am.
Of course, this is Obama’s world, so nothing will happen. It’s just part of the overall plan to fundamentally transform America.
Pedophiles call that "grooming".
You misunderstand. The market = the consumers.
If enough people complain, boycott, change the channel, etc then you can (at least some times) expect a change in programming.
You have to be selected, very selective in what you watch today.
Guess because I don't watch regular network TV anymore (100% crap in my view), didn't know things had gotten this bad, honestly.
What the hell were the idiots at ABC thinking or do they even think?
Support this woman completely.
Christians: you can’t run away from the battlefield.
There is nothing inherently wrong with the TV or the Internet technology.
In fact, it could be used to amazing Godly purposes.
Everyone: Most people STILL will not admit “new world order” “financial oligarchy”, i.e., the boards of directors of media companies that set their policy being de facto controlled by NWO.
The main thing America has been “progressing” towards during the 20th century is the breakdown of Biblical morality amongst the populace.
You have media mind control happening to you and you deny it.
Admit it, don’t deny it.
Then figure out WHO is doing it.
It’s not happening by chance.
It’s directed at YOU - at everyone.
Use the mass media and education to reverse what people think is acceptable and what is “bad” over the span of a few decades.
Why would corporate boards of directors of large companies want to help build an immoral and ignorant society ?
Who is controlling the boards of directors, how do they control them, and why ? What is the real goal ?
IMHO, we’d better start thinking about these questions.
Just wow. This mom is correct to complain to the FCC.
I have friends who have restricted what can be viewed on the TV at home and so far have kept their young teen’s minds from being polluted.
They have one of the largest DVD collections I’ve ever seen and not a filthy flick in the lot.
The kids are home schooled and well socialized between church, athletics and home school network.
It can be done. The kids will get to a point in their lives that they will be responsible for what they choose to view. Right now their parents have made it for them.
She would have better luck claiming that it offended her Muslim sensitivies....
Because a Christian can bitch and complain and no one fears them anymore....
SO eitherChristians need to start performing Head-ectomies, or claim they are “Muslims”, or kick the idiot libs out of power....
She would have better luck claiming that it offended her Muslim sensitivies....
On second thought, That wouldn’t work, The libs would be wonder why she wasn’t watching Al Jazeera instead of ABC...
When I visit my parents, my father in particular being a huge television addict (which I am not), we call that practice as "having bank".
We "Bank" time on the DVR by pausing a show at the beginning and then going and doing something productive (like watch kitty videos... which my Old Man is also a Cat Fancier, so that works) for 20 minutes... come back, and we are golden. I basically don't watch Television, and don't own a set, but I am just tired of the constant barrage of stupid advertising... advertising prescription phamaceuticals like Valtrex on the TV? Really? Isn't that up you your effing DOCTOR?
"Hey, Doc, I was watching O'Reilly the other night and you know, they had this ad and all the people in the commercial were happy and beautiful and the guys had really attractive women hanging on their arm. I am tired of being in this rut and depressed, Doc... I want to be younger looking, handsome, happy, and have a hot babe on my arm, too! You gotta get me a scrip for this Valtrex stuff... it looks like a wonder drug to me!"
Ouch. That hurt.
ABC = gAyBC
“Ita amazing to me that during the World Series, they show ads for Cialis over and over again.”
Not really. The Cialis ad execs probably figure the kind of people who actually find baseball exciting are more likely to be impotent than the general population, and the need for repeating the ads is because of the probable intelligence levels of baseball fans in general. :-) :-) :-)
Ita amazing to me that during the World Series, they show ads for Cialis over and over again.
They think they are just working the baseball theme, you know “Batter UP!”
I try not to watch live network TV, that way I can skip through all the incontinence, impotence, hormone issue, monthly “woman” problem, etc.
“It is a medical fact that kid under the age of puberty simply cannot deal with mental images of any kind of sex (normal/marital or deviant)”
So does that mean that all Eskimo children have been permanently damaged for thousands of years, since the whole family lives in a single tiny room?
BTW, I’d love to review some the scientific evidence regarding this “medical fact”.
Here's a thought; don't watch the anti-American commie propaganda networks.
That I couldn’t say-I haven’t watched any network TV for years, except for local area news if there is weather that bears watching-otherwise, I watch what I pay money for-DirecTV...
Great... Another soccer mom who is mad because she can’t free-range her kids and plant them in front of the tee vee all day to keep them occupied. This same broad will be boo-hooing ten years from now when after letting those kids run around loose and start drinking and getting high and expect the government to make up for her lazy parenting practices.
