Posted on 08/15/2013 12:16:08 AM PDT by Jim Robinson
The House does have the power of the purse (they are the only constitutionally authorized originating entity for spending bills, and it should rightly defund anything and everything with respect to Obamacare.
The only thing I worry about appropriations-wise, if a budget bill is passed, it will have to go through a House-Senate Conference which reconciles Senate appropriations with the controlling House bill and then a final House vote on whether to accept or reject the report.
This is where I feel we will get shived in the back by our own RINO House conferees, and the level of what they finally agree on will be buried in gobbley gook wording buried in the conferee report. Most House members will never read the conferee report and cross reference back to both bills.
Heritage is doing great work under De Mint. A wonderful bullet list to keep.
All true, well and good.
They won’t/ They won’t because they believe, rightly in my opinion, that we will continue to vote for them as soon as they rehash the fear of “The Dems are worse.
They will pretend none of this ever happened and so will many on the right because every election we repeat the game of them pretending to be right of center and we make excuses because ‘the Dems are worse’.
Jim and everyone, until they are removed from power this will not change. And they will never be removed as long as people on the right make excuses for why we have to compromise our principles.
it will never change until the voices on the right screaming bloody murder that we ‘have’ to support this leftist bunch are told to shut the hell up and go to hell. No one wants to admit that but the logical truth is that as long as the people empowered to govern have no fear of blowback, they will move ever leftward. And do it with the blessing of all the people making excuse after excuse for them, forgiving and forgetting and picking the lesser evil over the principled choice.
And contrary to many idiots claims, we do indeed have a choice.
Somebody tell Mitch McConnell...
I’m quite glad Texas didn’t vote for and give its electoral votes to Obama.
Even if the winning candidate in Texas had been Elmer Fudd.
I would have been glad of it compared to Obama taking my beloved state.
Make no mistake. It’s not arguable. If Texans followed your demand, Obama would have won here, too. I thank the Lord Texas did not and Obama did not.
I’ve said this to you before. I say it again. You never stop repeating your mantra to the world, and I’m not going to hesitate to repeat the results of your mantra, if followed.
We must unify behind someone who can transcend the mind-blowing challenges America faces including all the little divisive “cells” and beat the libs like Reagan did, and in the name of Constitutional governance.
Down that road is hope.
Down your road is more excuses and more leftist Republicans. If you willfully drive it, you are as much the problem as McCain since you both work toward the same thing.
Like rubio who is now trying to become the comeback kid. Bad on amnesty, but doesn’t like obahahacare. Well, I no longer care what rubio likes. Bye. And the same goes for every rino on my radar.
Oh, I’ll do my part and call and fax the bastiches that occupy the seats now, but never will I vote for a dayum one of them again.
I would also correctly point out that the type of people you want are the people we now have. The ones that refused to defend their own DOMA, the ones that are ramming immigration down America’s throat, the ones that refuse to use their constitutional power to rein in Obama’s illegal use of exec authority or investigate in any meaningful/results filled manner and a lot more.
That’s the result of your ‘hope’.
Have we not heard enough ‘hope and change’ insanity from libs? Now supposed conservatives want to echo them? How about ‘Results’. How about ‘Principles”. How about doing the job by the Constitution. How about that?
How about admitting that for decades since Reagan (who said a party cannot be eall things to all people), the GOP has fed us a progression of ever more leftist candidates, the last indistinguishable from a lib by his actual record?
You want more of that? Then why are you complaining about our government? You got exactly the people you want more of now.
Mark my words. In a few months, many freepers will condemn anyone who says a bad word about him. Cuz he can “Win!”....
So be it.
Yup. But we’d all be better off as a country if they weren’t allowed to spout liberal BS with impunity. And anything in support of Senator Amnesty is nothing BUT liberal propaganda. All it does is confuse the issue,
Appropriations Bills CAN Defund Obamacare, and Boehner, McConnell, and the rest of those weak, cowardly bastards KNOW IT.
Pinging the ping lists..as a special FYI!
Should have told you this before. You were righter than right during the last election, so I am NOT going to start second guessing you now.
Well, gang, it’s morning. The fat lady is still singing but she hasn’t hit the last note yet. Special ping because time is of the essence...and if you get three or four or five or more of these, bear with me. I don’t do this so often, but I have eight lists and you guys are on others. So blizzards on the way today. And donate while you’re at it.
Time to post the list of phone numbers for congress-critters again on the sidebar under activism. My list is a couple of elections behind Know where we can find an updated one!
Just part of the wonderfulness of being me ;)
Kidding aside though, despite all the sycophants that run around here calling me arrogant and posting pictures of Yosemite Sam on a dragon (whatever that’s about...” I am simply intent on sticking to conservative principles. Some people as we see on this very thread, are convinced that our path to victory runs through hiring libs to get is there.
When a single person explains how you get the country to the right by electing people who govern to the left, I’ll shut up and go away willingly.
But they can’t. I’m not wrong, I never WAS wrong and as long as people stick to what we CLAIM to believe in...conservatism...we will never BE wrong.
Which seems to indicate the naysayers arent all that conservative to begin with. If they were, they’d act like it.
Select your state here:
U.S. House of Representatives
Washington, DC 20515
Drive a stake through its heart!
And here's my suggestion: allow health insurance companies to offer policies across state lines on a regional basis. That way, there will be vastly more choice for health insurance plans, and with a lot more competition, that means lower prices overall.
>In a few months, many freepers will condemn anyone who says a bad word about him. Cuz he can Win!....<
I would love to be able to say, “you’re crazy”, but sadly, I think you’re right.
As part of Public Law 97-377, Congress prohibited both the Department of Defense and the Central Intelligence Agency from furnishing military equipment and support to any group
Too bad the law doesn’t prevent the DOD from providing military equipment to city cops.
The GOP isn’t interested in smaller government. That message is clear.
I wish I was also. But what DOES make me crazy is the legions of people here and on other websites that are all hyperpatriot except when it matters most.
I have said before that faced with actual DEATH and the loss of their families/property et all, the founders of this country spit in the face of the Brits and because of that, we have America. On the other hand, we only have to support principled people and not contribute to our own demise...no death involved...and most of us can’t be counted on to do it. In fact, many trash those of us who DO vote as our founders instructed...through their writings, speeches and that little thing called the Bill of Rights/Constitution.
I was told by one longtime freeper about a year back that “That’s just John Wayne tough talk” or something like that. And people like that are athe problem. They don’t actually believe in their country enough to vote for the people who could possibly save it.
As long as no one touches their material goods, they are fine with almost anything. Look how many here got the zot over backing homos/agenda and even came out and said they would trade abortion if it meant a Repub win.
And these are ‘conservatives?
To tell you the truth, I admire libs in a way. They may be fruitloops, but they can look at eachother without throwing up. With the above breed of ‘conservative’ I wonder if saving any of this is worth it.
Over 50% of Americans want that done, but the swamp water drinkers in dc aren’t listening to us.
Neither are their sycophants around the net. If they were, they would vote for someone else. But as my debate opponent a ways back said, they are happy/proud or whatever of sending liberal Republicans to DC and will do it again and again.
So what are those people really? If we judge them by their actions, they are liberals.
I find it funny that at a time when most here have seen the light about their past mistakes in the booth, a determined number of die hards are really digging in. As the GOP comes out with one F up after another, the cries from a decreasing minority grow more shrill that we’re all doomed unless we abandon third party talk and get back on the GOP plantation....
Let the market decide. No middlemen. Buying healthcare is like buying any other product.
These people don't care about laws.
But will the gop/’rat uniparty do it? No!
We shouldn’t assume that our so called allies in the gop actually want to defund owebamacare. The sad truth is the gop wing of the uniparty wants owebamacare to go into effect just as much as the ‘rat wing does. Why:
- To get access to the immense amount of personal data that owebamacare requires. Information is power. The gop wing on the uniparty is just as keen about increasing it’s power over the average person as the ‘rat wing is.
- To shift health costs from their corporate cronies to the taxpayer. This is a big one. Major employers are salivating over the thought of getting rid of their healthcare costs. When owebamacare becomes single payer, as it must, it will be Mission Accomplished.
- To keep an issue on the front burner for propaganda purposes. If owebamacare is actually fixed by defunding it, the gop wing of the uniparty loses a bogey man to rally the serfs with.
“I find it funny that at a time when most here have seen the light about their past mistakes in the booth, a determined number of die hards are really digging in. It would seem that the diehard supporters of the gop wing of the uniparty are becoming more like the heaven’s gate cult over time. But I might suggest that another dynamic is operating here: we’re getting down to the cronies and the hired help who are becoming more shrill as they just don’t have much else to throw at us.
Folks that don’t have a vested personal interest in the success or failure of the gop wing of the uniparty just aren’t bothering with it anymore.
Like I have been saying lately, it’s like our version of Celeb/Kardashian worship by the left. But at least KK has something worth looking at. The GOP has mothing to draw any interest.
Nevermind.. I found it (going through your posts in forum).. txrang has been as much a pain as Cherry.. wonder if it’s the same girl :/
Same basic mentality. Anything to keep people voting GOP no matter the damage they do to America.
True that. The gop is very deficient in having anyone worth looking at. Maybe they’ll tear a page out of the Italian playbook and start running porn stars for office?
They are not in DC. Thats the capital switch board. We once had a link to all their offices. Don’t know even how to find it now. Thanks for that one. Will leave a message for my rep
That's a simple one, Jim. No, they won't.
Not a peep out of the vast majority of them, conservatives included, on the last minute cushy deal to exempt themselves from ObamaCare.
That says that they are ALREADY GOING ALONG with the implementation of ObamaCare.
I’m not Cherry.
I’m not a pain.
What is this, the “good ol boys” club?
I call them as I see them.
That’s what we’re here for.
Next time you badmouth someone here, me, or anyone, have the manners per FR rules to ping the individual to your personal “hit” on them.
It’s no pain delivered to point out the truth. If everyone did as Norm Lenhart demands, Obama would have won every state in the Union.
Mitt was unfortunately nothing but a placeholder. As I stated, I would have just as soon Texas have gone to Elmer Fudd as have gone to Obama. There’s a couple of placeholders made for each other, eh? Romney and FUDD?
They are still better than letting your state go for Obama.
But of course we all know the answer is not to be found in placeholders.
Neither is it to be found in letting the open enemies of America as founded have it all while you splinter and split and splinter and split and moan and cry on the internet.
You get the respect and courtesy all libs deserve from me. None.
Well Tex, you and I agree that the republican party, it’s politicians and base, have left the reservation. It is now up to those who recognize a party platform as more than a piece of toilet tissue to recover the party and it’s values from those who ignore them, whether through ignorance or by choice.
Your attitude brought us Bill Clinton and Barrack Obama on a silver platter, and the view that it doesn’t look recoverable. Why the public seems to be so divided on issues as well as character, is pure human nature something the Founders sought to overcome with the government they were so successful in implementing. Had we stuck to the Constitution, and been able to elect honest and uncompromising patriots to positions of power, maybe we wouldn’t be in this mess, but then the unknown factor of who actually runs things, speaking in a religious sense comes into play and we may only know after seeing film at 11. Meanwhile we have to do what each thinks best based on each persons individual Roulette wheel of life, “where she stops nobody knows”. In some cases, based on fact, faith, experience, and history, we know exactly where the wheel will stop.
