UT to grant illegal immigrants in-state tuition

As students at the University of Toledo prepare for classes, some new faces will be joining them this fall. The university announced that it will begin charging in-state tuition to immigrants with temporary legal status granted by the federal deferred action for childhood arrivals program. Like most students, to get in-state tuition applicants must be able to prove Ohio residency, University President Lloyd Jacobs says, every person deserves a chance a bright future, American citizens, or not; he told us “wasting human talent would be a mistake to my mind”.

But not everyone is a fan of the new policy some members of the Ohio legislature say this move could cost taxpayers big. In a statement to WNWO Ohio state representative Matt Lynch told us "the decision by the board of regents will wind up costing the state of Ohio tens of millions of dollars. I am shocked that the state of Ohio would be willing to twist state law to accommodate those who are not in this country with lawful status, and i will work diligently to see this decision overturned".

How many times have you read how dreamers cannot manage to come up with $465 for Obama’s deferred action program. The University of Toledo will be giving illegal aliens free college educations.

I believe that the illegals must have graduated from high school in Texas to get the in-state tuition.

There was a law suit by a group of Asian students at UW, when they first instituted this policy. The end result was that the university had to refund the difference to between the in-state and out of state tuition that the students had paid since they had been there. You won’t find any mention of the settlement or the case on the internet. The case and settlement were sealed and the plaintiffs were sworn to secrecy.

“wasting human talent would be a mistake to my mind”.

As long as he doesn’t have to pay for it .... unload his prejudices on the taxpayers.

What gives the UT board of regents the right or power to give away Ohio tax dollars to non-citizens of Ohio and illegal aliens as well?
