HOUSE GOP LEADER: DEFUNDING OBAMACARE 'NOT REALISTIC'
Breitbart ^ | Aug 24, 2013 | By Mike Flynn

Posted on 08/24/2013 10:04:25 AM PDT by Jim Robinson

Rep. Cathy McMorris Rodgers, number 4 in House GOP Leadership, said the effort by conservatives to defund ObamaCare is "not realistic." She advocated a piece-meal approach to repeal, delay or defund individual provisions of the sweeping health care overhaul. The debate will likely dominate discussions within the Republican caucus when Congress returns next month.

“To get the entire bill repealed, or defunded, is probably not realistic,” McMorris Rodgers said. “But I do think there are provisions in the law that we can get delayed, or provisions in the law we can get defunded.”

The government's spending authority expires on September 30th. To avoid a government shutdown, Congress must pass a continuing resolution authorizing continued spending. Many conservatives, led by Sens. Mike Lee and Ted Cruz, want Republicans to strip spending for ObamaCare out of this continuing resolution.

Eighty House Republicans sent a letter to House Speaker Boehner on Thursday endorsing this plan. More moderate Republicans, however, are worried that such a move would garner a veto of the continuing resolution from Obama and lead to a government shutdown. Party leaders are concerned that they would be blamed for any shutdown.

GOP Leaders seem to be galvanizing around a plan to delay by a year the implementation of ObamaCare. “The delays the administration has been forced to implement in the healthcare law have given us a golden opportunity to talk about fairness," Boehner said Thursday, according to The Hill. "‘If big business gets relief from the president's healthcare law, families and small businesses should, too.’ This message strikes a chord with Americans. When people hear it, it resonates.”

There’s either an NSA folder, or a big giant sack of money somewhere.

Maybe both.

I’ve read the exact opposite.

The fact remains that Limbaugh has had the bully pulpit for over 20 years, millions of listeners, and gazillion advertisers. And yet, nothing substantive has come of that.

Here we are.

The fact that he was EVER a member of CFR makes him suspect for all time.

I have no idea about the CFR thing. I do know that Following the Pelosi ascension to power, he said on his show, live, he had and I quote, “Carried water” for the GOP.

I like much of what he says. But on that day I finally believed he was above all else, the entertainer he claims himself to be. And a Conservative whenever.

Amen to that.. With our backs to the wall and a one-time opportunity put the brakes to it and all we hear is surrender talk from the GOP.

Damn right they own it. The Freedom Party can’t start soon enough.

YOU can’t do that.

How are YOU gonna get rid of the RATs from faggot districts?
How are YOU gonna get rid of the RATs from tree hugger districts?
How are YOU gonna get rid of the RATs from union-thug districts?
How are YOU gonna get rid of the RATs from baby-killer districts?
How are YOU gonna get rid of the RATs from native-savage districts?
How are YOU gonna get rid of the RATs from college districts?
How are YOU gonna get rid of the RATs from Mexican districts?

It’s simply impossible.

I can see how you (plural) could get rid of some RINOs.

Why would you even want to get rid of the few people there that are (without recognition) fighting on your behalf?

“Yes, a previous poster is totally correct. If they don’t get rid of Ocare now, they will own it.”

The Republicans have had the power since the 2010 elections to defund it. They already own it just like they and George W. Bush own the doubling of the national debt during his administration. Yes, Obama is more fiscally irresponsible than Bush. However Bush took 3 years of balanced budgets and immediately began flowing red ink. Had he continued the balanced budgets of the final Clinton years it would have been much more difficult for Obama to bust the budget.

At this point I don’t care if the GOP loses the house and fails to gain the senate. There’s not a dime’s worth of difference between a RINO and a lib these days.

Same here. I am a conservative, they are Republicans, and the two are no lnger at all synonymous. This country is gong down like the Titanic, and the elite whether nominally left or right have already appropriated all the lifeboats for themselves. At this point, I just hope that the "cold" war existing between the politicians and the people, and the tools of the politicians, turns "hot" so I can see them get just a little of what they have coming before I die.

In any case, those we can see are themselves the tools of something more evil than they themselves obviously realise, so even if they don't get a taste of their just desserts while I'm still here, they're not going to know what hit them when the evil true powers behind them, get through with them.

At any rate, between the voter fraud, Potomac fever, those who go into politics for their own personal gain, and leftist infiltrators who have now completely subverted the GOP, it's not worth my time or bother to vote anymore.

Yes, but even if we got 10 Ted Cruzes, and none of them succumbed to being co-opted by the GOPe, it wouldn’t be enough to overcome the juggernaut the “two parties” are rolling over the country. The Supreme Court has supported sodomite marriage, upheld Husseincare, and other offenses against the Constitution and the will of the people. I realise now that the House has felt safe to hold symbolic votes against Obamacare, because they knew the Senate would safeguard it. They showed their true colors with their stance on yet another amnesty vote (notice they never give up when they want something, but they give us the “not pragmatic” spiel when they don’t).

I wish. But John McCain, Lindsey Graham, and their ilk just keep coming back like an untreated case of the clap.

John Boehner has no reason to change a thing he is doing. The real feedback he pays attention to is his election results. Not sure if he has ever had a primary challenge. In 2012 he ran unopposed in the general, not even a Dem challenged him. I doubt if anyone is going to challenge him in 2014. When you win with 100% of the vote every election why do you need to change a damn thing you are doing? The majority of Republicans in the House support him. When we make no effort whatsoever to fire his ass why wouldn’t he assume the majority must like his cooking? Just looking at this from the perspective that John Boehner might be looking at this.

“To get the entire bill repealed, or defunded, is probably not realistic,” McMorris Rodgers said.

Here's a way to find out what is realistic. Pass a CR without funds for Obamacare. Then see what happens.

The government folks need to be subject to the Obamacare stuff just like everybody else, and we need to pass a budget that forces the government to give their non-military workers less than 30 hours/week just like the rest of the economy is having to do. Give Nancy Pelosi and everybody else in the fedgov minimum wage, 29 hours/week that the taxpayers can afford to pay, and the same healthcare plan as everybody else is stuck with.

If R’s make those privisions the dems will defund it themselves.

Maybe we should pass a Constitutional amendment requiring government workers to work less than 29 hours/week, and to get paid by the hour.

We will never win with losers like Boehner in the leadership.

Exactly. Giving up the fight on kenyancare is part of the same exact loser tip toe strategy that led the GOP to disaster in 2012. The key component of it is avoiding engagement and conflict with the kenyan at all costs.

With the House GOP leadership pushing the Dem agenda and McConnell focused on getting reelected the rest of this Congressional term is looking like a train wreck for the GOP. They are flailing around without a clue.

The fact remains that Limbaugh has had the bully pulpit for over 20 years, millions of listeners, and gazillion advertisers. And yet, nothing substantive has come of that.

And where were we, exactly, in 1989?

After eight years of Reagan, we were back to the quintessential RINO in GHWB and subdued minorities led by the feckless Dole and Michel.

The truth is that Limbaugh has been instrumental in changing the Republican party's base -- giving us the courage of our conservative ways. We've owned the House for 15 of his last 20 years. Would there have been a Republican Revolution in 1994 without him? Would the Tea Party have enjoyed such great success in 2010 without him?

Unfortunately, though, he's had little impact on the Republican party's leadership. Fecklessness still rules the day.

Should we blame Limbaugh for that? Or the GOP-e?
