“Am I supposed to feel sorry for a guy who once traded in his Lamborghini because it was getting dirty?”

Tyson, just like you and me, is a human being and a sinner who will face Almighty God some day. Be it Tyson or Trevon or my dear old dad I'd rather they got it straight in the time they had BEFORE they meet His Majesty than to go covered in crime and rage and unrepentence . Tyson may have had the sort of economic success that a great many of might have viewed as freedom and managed more wisely but he (again, like you and me) also had a lot of other drag, insidious drag that non but God can quantify. I hope he beats it. He was damn near a feral animal starting out. I hope he gets as much time as he needs. Funny thing is it doesn't seem to me, based upon listening to him, that he would today wish on you what you have wished on him. His confronting his own meanness puts him one large step ahead of you.

His confronting his own meanness puts him one large step ahead of you.

When I rape a couple of women, and beat the stuffing out of a few dozen more, then go to prison and get my face tattooed like a New Guinea native, then go muslim, become addicted to drugs, then booze, then God knows what else, then go on TV and whine about it, he'll be one large step ahead of me.

Don't start counting the days yet ...

And by the way, he only "confronted his own meanness" after decades spent abusing himself and everyone around him. When he was on top, he strutted around like his crap came out in baggies. Now that he's a complete freak of a has-been, he's contrite and apologetic. Let me suggest that the time for humility is when it has the most influence, not when you've got so much to be humble about.

Feel sorry for him if you will. I won't waste one drop of sympathy on that wreck.

Tyson began looking at himself and his life as far back as the Cus D’Amato days. He has been up and down many times over the years. If you recall (as far as boxing goes) he started out with this humble, 'classy guy and a historian of pugilisim' act that very soon morphed into an almost comical 'I am a god among mortal dust' thing I've seen the type many times over the years. God only knows how it ends.

His sins, mine and yours, are not relative to one another. They are monolithic to our lives. You get no credit for not beating the crap out of someone or managing not to be the clown Tyson is. Tyson is aware of his faults. He bounces between regretting them and succumbing to his anger. Your wishing that he die soon is a profound meanness in yourself you refuse to recognize.

As I’ve said repeatedly, Tyson is a churl and a comic failure. I can’t muster one iota of sympathy for him. If that makes me mean, so be it.

I’ve wasted too much time on this subject already. Adios.
