That’s why he’s get congressional approval. Because this could quickly become global, and in fact they may be planning on it.

Are you talking about the one’s they shot at us in the Persian Gulf back in the 80’s??? Or the newer Chinese model???

Either or, I’m sure our defensive screen of ships and systems can handle a few pot-shots...Because that is about all they would have if they did try that...

I have a lot of confidence in that capability, what we should be concerned with is any change in ROE that might hinder a commanding officers ability to safeguard his/her command...

One thing is sure, the Congress can not ONLY, MERELY vote this damn thing DOWN. In their legislation, they could and should attach a threatening rider which says:

"and despite our DISAPPROVAL for military action against the Government of Syria, if the Executive Brancy chooses to proceed anyway and disregard the deliberative proceedings and vote of this body, an article of impeachment will be duly considered for introduction into the House through the relevant committee."

I suspect that there will be two carriers in the Med if a strike is going to happen. Also, they will also deploy ground forces to the region for a possible invasion of Syria.

The Congressional Authorization will call for an overthrow of Assad and possible occupation/CPA.

The Chinese are sending ships up the Red Sea from their piracy deployments. I think I know where the PLAN is sending them.

On Jutland - the Germans inflicted heavy losses on Beatty’s battle-cruiser fleet, but were then permanently forced back into harbor by the arrival of Jellicoe’s main battle fleet.

The British lost more materiel on the day - causing confusion at the time as to who actually won.

However the battle is now considered a British victory in that the British will prevailed. The German fleet was forced back to port and the strict blockade of Germany remained in force. This proved critical to Germany’s enforced signing of the Armistice and the internment of their fleet.

I can remember when the Navy said they never wanted to have a Carrier task force in the Arabian Sea. Moving into this location could be a huge disaster because of the lack of space to maneuver.

I think you are confusing the Arabian (Persian) Gulf with the Arabian Sea. The latter is basically the NW Indian Ocean. Plenty of sea room.

Thanks. You are absolutely correct. Too many years since the 80’s.

Looks like a lot of nations are lining up close to Syria.
Looks like the US is about to start WW3.
