Obama Indicts Obama

One of the problems that Barack Obama has in mounting an attack against the Assad regime is that the gambit violates every argument Barack Obama used against the Bush administration to establish his own anti-war candidacy.

The hypocrisy is so stunning that it infuriates his critics and stuns his supporters.

Deriding the Iraq war was Obama’s signature selling point. He used it to great effect against both Hillary Clinton (who voted for the war) in the Democratic primaries and John McCain in the general election. For the last five years, disparagement of “Iraq” and “Bush” has seemed to intrude into almost every sentence the president utters.

And now? His sudden pro-war stance makes a number of hypocritical assumptions. First, the U.S. president can attack a sovereign nation without authorization from Congress (unlike the Iraq war when George W. Bush obtained authorization from both houses of Congress). Even if Obama gets a no vote, he said that he reserves the right to strike.

Second, Obama assumes that the U.S. must go it alone and attack unilaterally (unlike the coalition of the willing of some 40 nations that joined us in Iraq).

Third, it is unnecessary even to approach the UN (unlike Iraq when the Bush administration desperately sought UN support).

Fourth, the U.S. president must make a judgment call on the likelihood of WMD use, which is grounds ipso facto to go to war (unlike Iraq when the vast majority of the 23 congressionally authorized writs had nothing to do with WMD [e.g., genocide of the Marsh Arabs and Kurds, bounties to suicide bombers, harboring of international terrorists, violations of UN agreements, attempts to kill a former U.S. president, etc.]).

So review for a moment the Old Obama case against the New Obama.

On the perils of going it alone

That shouldn’t be hard to do.

If the United States were to engage Syria militarily it’s pretty much unwinnable because of the threats the US faces from Russian missiles which are a decade ahead of the US. I hope the Congress votes no.

Hey dudes it’s not like God went on vacation here. Iran is less than pipsqueak to the Lord.

At the same time if you haven’t latched on to His unshakable kingdom, you’re in for a pretty big shaking.

B. Candidate Obama has always been an adroit demagogue. He knew how to score political points against George Bush, Hillary Clinton, and John McCain, without any intention of abiding by his own sweeping declarations. The consistency in Obama’s foreign policy is his own carefully calibrated self-interest. Bombing or not bombing, shutting down or keeping open Guantanamo Bay, going or not going to the UN or the U.S. Congress — these choices are all predicated not on principle, but only on what a canny and unprincipled Obama feels best suits his own political interests and self-image at any given moment. In a self-created jam, he flipped and now goes to Congress in hopes of pinning responsibility on them, whether we go or not, whether successful or unsuccessful if we do. He is a quite clever demagogue.

Pleased to meet you, hope you guess my name.

Zero pro-war stance is nothing more than his rhetoric catching up with his pride. Once he drew a red line in the sand without having a clue that what to do if it was crossed he now find himself looking like a fool.

The situation is so obvious I’m surprised even a RINO or Bushbot don’t GET IT..

Obama is a drone taking orders.. thats why he appears to go one way and then goes another..
And whatever he says is doubletalk... Jackie Gleason style himmina himmina..

Some cabal decides to do one thing and it matters little whats been already said..
The cabal MUST be obeyed..

The only thing I’m afraid of.. is that Congress generally is in control of the Cabal as well..
And maybe even the Supremes..

The italian Mafia easily controlled many governments and police departments..
Why not a super Mafia.. the Progressive Mafia..
With certain “MADE MEN/WOMEN”, queers and various other degenerates. ...
Don’t forget the Capos... there must be Capos.. leg breakers and other intimidators..

Steven King eat yer heart out..

Well, I hope G-d is watching over His chosen people because in this man-made era of Barakeh Hussein, Israel is in big trouble.

Iran is a monster, let out of its bottle in 1979. Since then she has built a mighty fighting force, like North Korea. They may feed on a steady diet of weeds and gravel but getting the bomb is paramount. No sanction in the world will stall them...

Stephen King... fooey on him and his tame hells. We are watching real live, wild hell here. The “cabal” exists — it is out of this world, literally.

HOWEVER, folks... God never went on vacation. And He can stomp on hell in nothing flat. He’s waiting for Your call... the reconciliation needs only a moment.

I sometimes get bemused over typographical bends on the Lord. The Cross made God accessible without fussy ceremony. Was it for nothing that the temple curtain ripped in two?

Anyhow, God is far bigger than this monster. I would go as far as saying look for a miraculous beatdown if Israel gets involved. Not even for the sake of the secular country but for the Jews there who are jealous for His name, however confused the Cross still makes them.

Obama can’t be a hypocrite.

Christians are hypocrites if they fail to live up to their lofty ideal (even if they sincerely believe those ideals and make a major effort to model their lives on those standards, they are still called hypocrites if they fail.

Conservatives are hypocrites if they oppose an idea that any republican has ever advocated. Romney supported Romneycare, so any conservative who opposes any form of socialized medicine is a racist and a hypocrite. It doesn’t matter that conservatives opposed Romneycare and the individual mandate when Romney implemented them in Massachusetts, conservatives are still called hypocrites for opposing them when they were forced on us by an alleged woman (Pelosi), an alleged black American (Obama), and an alleged Mormon (Reid).

But a black liberal cannot be a hypocrite. Let’s use a different term. Perhaps we should say that Obama is temporarily misguided, and that is only because of the unrelenting and irrational opposition of the vast right wing conspiracy, which is Bush’s fault.

Good article. The only one of the four options offered by Hanson with which I disagree is that Obama is a naïf and just learning some hard lessons. I definitely think he’s not very bright, and he’s ignorant and actually doesn’t want to learn or to understand the reality; but this comes out of malevolence and a desire to punish the US, as Hanson notes elsewhere, as well as out of his ideological committment to a fantasy Third World Islamic movement of which he believes he is the leader.

The only point at which naïveté may enter into it is in this latter belief; I think he doesn’t realize that each Muslim faction considers its particular leader to be the potential new caliph, and they’re not going to welcome him with open arms as he expected because they actually consider him an upstart rival.

Question: If the president takes us to war and this escalates quickly, can the government use it as an excuse to bypass all concerns of the deficit, which is a looming spectre in the next month?

Not even for the sake of the secular country but for the Jews there who are jealous for His name, however confused the Cross still makes them.

As a Jew and an Israeli I can, gently and calmly tell you that the Jews I know I are neither “jealous for His name” and are not in the least “confused” regarding the cross. We are (Jews & Christians), after all are supposed to be in this TOGETHER, not deriding one to the other...I respect your views but it should be mutual. Islam wants to erase us both so we need to think together, not apart.
