President Vladimir Putin hopes to send a delegation of Russian lawmakers to the United States to discuss the situation in Syria with members of Congress, the Interfax news agency reported Monday.

Russian legislators Valentina Matvienko and Sergei Naryshkin proposed that to Putin, saying polls have shown little support among Americans for armed intervention in Syria to punish President Bashar Assad's regime for an alleged chemical weapons attack.

The lawmakers said maybe U.S. legislators can be persuaded to take a "balanced stance" on the issue....

I am forced with all my sense of reason to oppose anything that benefits Russia’s long term strategy, and benefits American survival.

The fact that you hate America's survival is coming through loud and clear. Until and unless you can get another of your al qaeda cohorts in here to help you triangulate on the opposition to aiding the terrorists - delphi technique - you're SOL.

Pootie is going to show obama his “file” and then he will threaten to release it to fox news and The Blaze.

I can’t figure out why Israel is supporting Obama’s madness.

and barry going to St Petersburg, publicly dissing and snubbing Putin, and setting up a meeting with Russian homosexual activists is not interfering with Russia’s sovereignty?

maybe because an limited symbolic attack on Syria that makes Assad a martyr or a hero to the Iranians draws the jihad toward USA?

if Syria and its allies retaliate against Israel it will be because obama incited it and the Israelis somehow think the US will back them up when they respond

fools

I would love it if they had solid proof that it was a workplace accident by the rebels not a government action that caused this chemical attack. That’s my suspicion.

———This is all surreal.-——

This is funny as hell....... Putin is doing an end run around Obama. He is bypassing the weak and ineffectual President by going to a Congress to whom he can make his arguments.

I don’t think he will succeed, but applaud his effort

The whole story should be available in FR archives. I made a paper copy of the FR report and have used it numerous times as a reference. The entire scenario goes back years even if not covered in the subject FR posting.

“It’s revealing and tells me that Russia is impotent in stopping us if we decide to strike, contrary to all the people warning about Russia’s military.”

Or...

Since Obama screwed Russia over so badly in Libya with the “NoFly” Close Air Support Zone, Putin is determined to not let that happen again.

He KNOWS Obama is a weak, spineless wonk, and thinks he won’t risk a confrontation with Russia over this.

And after what happened Friday, shortly after telling Russian ships in the Med to prepare for a “Severe Confrontation”, it seems he may be right.

You’ll note that Russian rhetoric on this seems to be attacking Obama’s ego directly, and NOT the United States in general? They KNOW he’s a clinical narcissist, and are using that.

Why?? Democrats do it ALL THE TIME..

Or have you forgotten how Kerry and Pelosi went to Syria seeking help in killing US troops during The War Against Bush?

The Russians tried to warn us about the Tsarnaevs, we didn’t listen.

They are trying to warn us again that helping Al Qaeda in Syria is not a good policy.

When the ex-Soviet KGB Prez of Russia sounds much saner than the Peace Prize President of the US, you really know we could be in BIG TROUBLE....

Russia and America are in the same boat. Despite your eagerness to oppose anything that benefits Russia’s long term strategy, it would be unwise to sink the boat and destroy America as well just to spite Russia.

If current demographic trends continue, the number of Sunni Muslims will soon outnumber Protestants, Catholics, and Eastern Orthodox believers combined. They’re out-breeding us. If the Lord tarries, the Sunnis can take over Europe within 2 to 3 decades simply by having more kids than the native non-Muslim population.

Since the Sunnis are the majority sect (over 85% of Muslims globally), the Shiites (less than 15%) can’t counterbalance that for long. The Sunnis and the Shiites are both evil, at this point the Sunnis are more dangerous because there are more of them. If Assad falls, the Muslim Brotherhood (Sunnis) will take over Syria, and then the disparity of power between the Sunni and Shiite sects will become more apparent.

Once the Sunnis out-breeds the native populations of UK and France and takes over the government of those two countries (give them 2 or 3 decades), it gains access to their nuclear stockpile. When combined with the nukes they already have in Pakistan, if the Sunnis (led by Turkey most probably) choose to re-establish the Caliphate at that time and declare jihad on the entire non-Muslim world, it will be devastating. Unlike the West that is plagued by the Left and by political correctness, the Muslims will have no hesitation using the nukes they acquired on the cities of the infidels.

A global Sunni Islamic government benefits neither America nor Russia, nor any other non-Islamic country.

I have family there. But I think pressure is internal re: political parties, peaceniks and hawks, unknown threats/deals undercutting Israel by US, etc. Even with my loved ones there (who view these external problems with a side eye), I wished she would have taken defensive action to lower Iran’s threat when Rummy was warning awhile ago. Honestly, I feel it’s time to brush up on Ayn Rand’s explanation of nihilists in Atlas Shrugged. Twas the ONLY way that the complete collapse of rational discourse makes sense to me: the concrete bound mentality who yells to John Galt, “Do something to fix it!!” And he shrugs, “Deregulate business.” Oh so clear. No, these glassy eyed politicians won’t listen to reason anymore.
