Obama: 'I Didn't Set a Red Line' on Syria

Obama: 'I Didn't Set a Red Line' on Syria Daniel Halper September 4, 2013 9:31 AM

President Obama said in Sweden today that he personally "didn't set a red line" on Syria:

"First of all, I didn't set a red line," said Obama. "The world set a red line. The world set a red line when governments representing 98 percent of the world's population said the use of chemical weapons are [inaudble] and passed a treaty forbidding their use, even when countries are engaged in war. Congress set a red line when it ratified that treaty. Congress set a red line when it indicated that in a piece of legislation entitled the Syria Accountability Act that some of the horrendous things happening on the ground there need to be answered for. So, when I said in a press conference that my calculus about what's happening in Syria would be altered by the use of chemical weapons, which the overwhelming consensus of humanity says is wrong, that wasn't something I just kind of made up. I didn't pluck it out of thin air. There's a reason for it."

I was just reading Breitbart and someone posted the following after an article about Syria that i thought was spot on. Hat tip to Daffyduck:

I don’t think it is the responsibility of our
military to pull Obama’s big mouth out of the
fire. He should learn to keep it shut. He got
us into this mess by acting like he knew
what he was doing, when in fact, he let his
mouth overload his ass. Let him lose
credibility, if he has any. Like Old Kerry once
said, “it’s not worth losing one life for a
mistake” and the mistake was Obama
running his mouth.

I donned my protective clothing and headed over to DU.
Even the moon bats are up in arms about this lie. It is like watching a kicked over termite nest. I need more popcorn.

Agence France-Presse @AFP 41m

EXCLUSIVE: Syria will not give in ‘even if there is WWIII’: minister

The Assad regime and his sect will not surrender. They can’t afford to lose because they will die. Pure and simple, this is a fight to the death for the loyalist forces. The powers that be do not appear to comprehend this. I suppose Assad could jump on a plane to Tehran, but there are a few million that could face death. Unlike the West where the ousted opposition goes on book and lecture tours it means death in the Muslim world.

100k casualties will be a drop in the bucket compared to what will first happen within Syria and then happen in the region. That does not even account for the risk to the West of AQ having stockpiles of WMD. What could possibly go wrong?

It's called Doublespeak. All that is left is for the Ministry of Information to remove all videos, newspaper articles, etc from existence and then he didn't say it.

It might be a Thoughtcrime for you to even possess the Youtube video. Better get rid of it comrade before you are disappeared.

A “whole bunch” of chemical weapons. LOL.

And "players on the ground" crossing a "red line", like it's a football game or something. Childish.

The Syria Accountability Act of 2003 says nothing about military action. It’s mostly about Hezbollah and Lebanon and supporting terrorism. This guy is certifiable.. he is the monkey with a grenade.

Obama Threatens Force Against Syria

By MARK LANDLER

WASHINGTON — President Obama warned Syria on Monday that it would face American military intervention if there were signs that its arsenal of unconventional weapons was being moved or prepared for use. It was Mr. Obama’s first direct threat of force against Syria, as he has resisted being drawn into the bloody 18-month rebellion.

The president’s warning raises the pressure on President Bashar al-Assad, whom Mr. Obama again called on to relinquish power. And it underscores the deepening alarm among American officials that, as Syria sinks further into civil war, its unconventional weapons could be seized by radical forces tied to terrorist groups like Hezbollah or Al Qaeda.

The warning brings Mr. Obama, who has brushed aside calls to impose a no-fly zone or to arm the Syrian rebels, a step closer to direct American engagement. The specter of unconventional weapons being loosed in the heart of the Arab world, he said, would upend his calculation that military intervention would only worsen the situation.

“We cannot have a situation in which chemical or biological weapons are falling into the hands of the wrong people,” Mr. Obama said in response to questions at an impromptu news conference at the White House. “We have been very clear to the Assad regime but also to other players on the ground that a red line for us is, we start seeing a whole bunch of weapons moving around or being utilized.”

“That would change my calculus,” he added. “That would change my equation.”

Oh wait, Obozo liar said change his calculus not draw a red line then.
