Making the "slippery slope" argument because our public officials are actually enforcing the existing gun laws is ridiculous. Isn't enforcement of our existing laws what all of the gun advocates always say they want?

If one-third of the firearms being taken from unauthorized people are coming from convicted felons, it's a sure bet the other two-thirds are coming from people who have been judged mentally incompetent, are drug addicts, or are prohibited from possession of a firearm because they have committed a significant crime not amounting to a felony, such as a domestic battery.

We should be increasing the resources devoted to removing firearms from anyone legally prohibited from possessing them. Then we can decide if additional restrictions are necessary to keep such weapons out of their hands in the future.

Ron Doughty

"Then we can decide if additional restrictions are necessary to keep such weapons out of their hands in the future."

That's always the solution isn't it. As long as one law-abiding citizen has one gun, you and others will live by the above rule. The problem is, you use that rule, to make law abiding owners of guns, criminals if they don't turn them in.

This isn't about reducing crime, protecting children or anything else short of eliminating gun ownership. At least you could own up to it.

Do drive-by shootings still exist? Yes.
Do armed robberies still take place? Yes
Do armed carjackings still take place? Yes
Do armed men still kidnap women? Yes
Do armed men still rape women? Yes

Tell us what your gun controls have achieved. The crimes still happen, and fewer people are able to own fewer types of guns. Criminals can get their hands on any gun they want. We as law-abiding citizens can't. Isn't that special.

As soon as the liberals can.

Next up, regulations on how much gas you can have in a can and how much meat you can eat.

I am sad to report that in Dallas this past month they passed a law that says you cant use your cellphone in a parked car in a school zone.

Madness

Man, you either drive real fast or your taking the space shuttle.
Takes me 12 hours from the city of Downey just to get to my place in Trinity Co. Ca.

Using a bit of Wittgensteinian logic.

Rephrase the question.
Do you favor background checks for voter registration?

It is, at least according to uncle Ludwig, exactly the same thing

You want to drive a leftist nuts. Read Karl Popper and Ludwig Wittgenstein

Good post. Of course we know better than to expect even a semblance of sanity from the anti-gun crowd. And we know better because we know they "think" with their feelings. I had a debate just yesterday with a liberal friend and he could barely get through a sentence w/o using the term "I feel..."

Feeling isn't thinking. Feeling is an emotional reaction. And when emotions outweigh common sense and logic we are faced with nonsensical results, results that in a state like Kalifornia which is dominated by liberals adversely affects us all. God help us.

I agree with you DoughtyOne; you might also want to inform the rubberhead that with the exception of drive-by’s, not all of these crimes are committed with only guns.

Next up, regulations on how much gas you can have in a can and how much meat you can eat.

Or, in my town (per a new ordinance) no beer can be sold in a container greater than 32 ounces. source.

All these ordinances do is cause people to shop elsewhere/. I know I do.

Chuck Buck was a friend of mine from the chamber. I visited him and the new factory up in Post Falls, ID a few years ago. He moved the company from this state after 61 years. It was sad to see them go but the way the left has mismanaged this state who can blame him?

I don’t

The whole route out to El Cajon changed names like 3 times along the route.
I lived on an artery to that place.

It was just freakin odd.

Thanks South40.

I agree with your comments. It’s embarrassing to live in a state with just idiots in control.
