This is not the America of our grandparents, when women could safely take a stroll at night, old people were safe, and even delinquent kids had some values and manners. We live in an age that demands we be on our guard, no matter where we are, and that goes twice for white people who have been made objects of hate. Be well armed, and prepared to help all of us rid ourselves of feral predators.

“checking back seats when they get in their cars and giving long looks to strangers.

I like how they cleaned it up by saying “strangers” even though everyone knows they were black. I would assume “black strangers” would get an especially long look.

Howse was shot and killed in what police called “a robbery that went wrong.”

I'd say it was a robbery that went right. The criminals obtained what they wanted. Just because the victim died down't mean that the robbery didn't go exactly as the criminals intended. This is the fallacy of paying any attention to the JBTs. They would have you believe that a robbery is just a simple transaction - robber gets your money you go away a bit poorer but none the worse for wear- no harm no foul. Ain't the way it works. It was statistically proven (by Gary Kleck) that you're a lot safer resisting with a firearm than following the robbers' instructions.

To me a "robbery went wrong" is where the victim kills the criminals. OH and BTW as long as no police were hurt, this isn't going to get a lot of police manpower.

Or drive over the bastard if you can. What is the “knock-down power” of a car compared to a 9mm?

Is this place in a “hood”? If so, I don’t get why folks would choose to live there. Is there some investment potential gentrification going on?

That’s funny. We live in Tacoma in a multi-cultural neighborhood and feel quite safe. The “hoods” prefer neighborhoods with better pickings.

This is Tacoma’s most upscale part of downtown, which is not saying a whole lot, but the views are magnificent.

I stayed at a hotel near the Tacoma Dome during the big ice storm a couple years ago. My truck was vandalized, thieves cut the gasoline filler line by going under the truck. I guess they siphoned gas. (So much for locking gas-filler doors, which my truck as stock. I'd have rather they stole the gas without destroying my ability to drive the truck.

There might be some nice areas but mostly Tacoma is pretty much a step above a slum. Pierce county is full of crime and gangs, too. A few years ago some low life shot four cops as they were eating breakfast. He was on the lam for a week and a bunch of people in the "neighborhood" were harboring him.

It's that kind of place. And yes, it is heavily minority in many areas, and the minorities are racist and will get YT if they can.

The Hilltop Crips are notorious.

"Tacoma and Lakewood Crips" - police gang intelligence briefing.

If you go down and read their motto's it is easy to believe they shot someone in a BMW in a parking lot, just cause they could get away with it.

notice how the cops just want us to be more aware, and places all responsibility on victims or future victims...

advice from the police chief in my area is "don't fight back or you'll make it worse"...

so there you have it, straight from the cops..

.sound advice....

be always afraid and never fight back...

there is no right to live in a safe place....tough cookies, peasants....

Fred Reed, who we aren’t allowed to post here the last I looked, just wrote an interesting article about growing up in that America which you describe in the 1950s. Title “Surrender in the Culture Wars.” Search it out and read it.

Heck, I’ll ping the big guy and ask if that can be changed. That article is worth it.
