When I first moved to Nevada in 1988, Cloves were illegal in Nevada or something for some reason. I remember all of the college kids doing weekly runs up to Truckee or Lake Tahoe to purchase cloves by the carton. It was the “cool kid” thing. Then a few years later, the ban on cloves was lifted, and suddenly nobody smoked cloves anymore.
