Ted Cruz crusades for government accountability in Twitter chat
Houston Chronicle ^ | Sept 17, 2013 | Texas on the Potomac - Washington news with a Texas accent

Posted on 09/17/2013 10:26:22 AM PDT by Jim Robinson

Texas Sen. Ted Cruz took to Twitter Tuesday morning for a brief chat emphasizing the importance of upholding the U.S. Constitution and abiding by its guidelines to holding elected officials accountable.

Tagging the occasion as a #ConstitutionDay Q&A , Cruz answered questions from Twitter users about the effects of the Affordable Care Act — which Cruz has been outspoken about repealing — on constitutional freedoms and civil liberties.

Many of the questions echoed Cruz’s sentiment about the act, calling into question both President Barack Obama’s and Congress’s leadership and how they are allowed to “circumvent” the Constitution.

Here are some of the highlights:

I’ll be taking the next 15 mins for #ConstitutionDay Q&A – reply now w/ questions & I’ll get to as many as I can! pic.twitter.com/z5H71dQOIS

.@USAChick1777 An excellent question. In my view, the touchstone for every question before Congress should be the Constitution. Thx.

Could online chats be a better way to deliver topics for debate. I mean it is hard for someone to talk over you, like they do on TV shows, on an online chat forum.

On the side of the chat box there could be moderators or someone saying if the statements are factual.

You could also have an area to get user real time inputs whether they agree with the chats that are posted by the participants. Participants being the people who are currently invited guests on TV shows now.

I can hardly watch any live TV shows with opposing views anymore. The left is just too nasty on them and the right just misses too many opportunities to score points on them.

Conservatives have an advantage on twitter because we seem to be a lot better at getting clear messages out in 140 characters or less.

Guys like Cruz and Paul have mastered it better than most GOPers.

No repercussions for the Obama administration on ANY of the major scandals. NONE.

1) Solyndra
2) Illegal recess appointments (NLRB)
3) Fast & Furious
4) IRS targeting individuals and groups for their political ideology
5) DOJ spying on Fox News (Spying on AP was a red herring to make it appear as though they weren't targeting ONLY conservatives. There is NO evidence the DOJ spied on the AP, only Fox News' James Rosen)
6) Benghazi
7) Personal Email accounts used for official gov't business (Shadow government in hiding)

It will be valuable for them. The out of touch wealthy republican image was an a deciding factor for a lot of people, right or wrong. Access to social media and competency with it is the ticket

And it will be an advantage. It was Clinton’s and BOs help, to be in touch with busy young people, now these gentlemen will be filling that space, they already are, vs Hillary, Biden, Castro, who else is talking about running

The wittier world is ahead of the view, Leno, letterman, etc. twitter does not use teleprompters. The real person has to come out. It will squash Hillary at least in that arena, which is growing

These senators are on the conservative shows all the time, sounding interesting

As far as media goes these guys are just way put front realizing they’ll NEVER win lib media audience at large

"Government accountability." Now that is a real oxymoron.

Ted Cruz took his twitter audience right to the senate floor with him during the filibuster with Rand Paul.

Never before have the comments and questions from the American people gone to the floor of the senate in near real time and Cruz used the words of the people to slap congress up side the head.

I remember that. I’m sure that’s included in my impression.

He is it. And he needs a lot of prayers.

Don’t forget the release of thousands of legal and illegal aliens, many of them sexual predators. Cash for clunkers, hundreds of billions in “stimulus” used as slush funds, closing US oil rigs while funding Mexico’s and Brazil’s to the tune of $2B each, raiding the taxpayer trough of billions for endless vacations. That’s just the tip of the iceberg of this evil Amoeba’s corruption. Bob
