Will Israel be the World's First ‘No Cash’ Society?
INN ^ | 9/17/2013, 9:38 PM | David Lev

The government on Tuesday authorized establishment of a committee that will examine ways to eliminate cash from the Israeli economy—the better to prevent citizens from cheating on their taxes. The committee will be chaired by Harel Locker, director of the Prime Minister’s Office.

Cash is easily passed from individual to individual, and transactions using cash can take place without the tax man’s supervision. Not so electronic transactions; with modern computers, banks can keep tabs on how much people deposit into their accounts and how much they withdraw, while credit card companies have an up-to-the-second record of how much people spend. …

This is hysterical. I worked for an Israeli company. According to the employees the Israeli medical system ran on bribes. “Oh, the free stuff is wonderful, but if you want it now, then you have to pay money under the table.”

And he causes all, the small and the great, and the rich and the poor, and the free men and the slaves, to be given a mark on their right hand or on their forehead, 17and he provides that no one will be able to buy or to sell, except the one who has the mark, either the name of the beast or the number of his name. 18Here is wisdom. Let him who has understanding calculate the number of the beast, for the number is that of a man; and his number is six hundred and sixty-six.

Tick tock, coming to your neighborhood soon.

I do not have a credit card of any type, not even for gas.

Really funny.
These guys are going to tell JEWS that
“ I’m sorry, you can’t get it cheaper for cash.”
Bwhahahahah.
Hell, if it wasn’t for the cash economy this world
would be dead.

And he causeth all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond, to receive a mark in their right hand, or in their foreheads: And that no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name.

I'm not generally superstitious, but the whole thing is spooky.

“Observers said that it was hard to imagine the government succeeding in this effort. “A move like this could really weaken the economy,” said one observer. “The only thing declaring cash obsolete will do is to encourage people to use dollars or other foreign currency for financial transactions. Unless the government plans on making it illegal to hold foreign currency, there is no way to get rid of cash and the problems that go along with it.”

If that were true, then neither the state of Israel nor the United States of America would ever have been established.

I remember reading that there were clay tablets found all over the Middle East for centuries. You could find them along any road you walked on. The cuneiform writing on them was unknown until some smart guy deciphered them in the 1800’s. They were tax records................

Already in this country having a large sum of cash is reason for suspicion of drug deals and can be confiscated.

One way or another, crypto-cash is the future. People will exchange "value" on an as-needed basis, and no one will know who is paying, or who is receiving, and no one will know amounts. Governments will be cut out of the loop entirely, and the world will change.

It's not easy to do, and no one has done it yet, but I have no doubt that anonymous and untraceable money is coming soon -- the demand will make it unstoppable.

As the author admitted, people will just use dollars or euros. But they could certainly use bitcoins, gold, silver or barter as well. Enforcement would require a vicious and expensive police state.

It could be partly symbolic, indicating allegiance in thought and deed. The entire book of Revelation is packed with symbols. Still it will NOT be good. It will be the ultimate rebellion against God and it will almost seem to succeed, until it falls like the house of cards it is.

“the socialist streak runs deep in them.”

Yeah so deep - LESS THAN 100 years ago they imported marxists from europe to rebuild a nation out of swamps and desert , and they have been almost completely out of power since Begin.

TORAH IS thousands of years old. Jews are not “bloodline socialists”.

Is going digi-money a good idea? HELL NO.

But stupid CHRISTIANS have turned more countries into marxist sludge pits than Jews have. Stupid CHRISTIANS put OBAMA IN POWER TWICE.

Here’s a hot tip; STALIN was raised Russian Orthodox and went to SEMINARY as a teen. Does that make him him and all christians GENETICALLY COMMUNIST?

Marx’ FATHER converted OUT of Judaism, and Marx HATED JEWS.

Wake the heck up. As a great freeper from upstate wrote on another subject:

“Just wanted to fix that for you. You paint with too broad a brush.”

You priders of yourself in the law equate church clubs with Christians. That’s like equating lightning bugs with lightning. When you meet actual gospel there will be NO mistake about what it is.

Yeah so deep

Oh, calm down. My statement that "socialism runs deep" is historical fact for the state of Israel. Israel's economy was hamstrung for decades by the government's socialist policies and its state-run enterprises.

You're too sensitive. Mine was not an anti-Semitic statement nor was it even anti-Israel. I have a deep admiration for the Israelis. I just hope they'll continue to free up their economy.

According to many of these officials, cash is bad – because it allows individuals to get out of their tax payment responsibilities ... In a cashless economy, all records will be electronic, and checking who makes what and how much they owe in taxes – and collecting it before it gets to their account – will be a much simpler matter, the theory goes.

The obstacle I see is that much of commerce is moving online. You know, brick and mortar bookstores going out of business because they can’t compete with Amazon, so now there’s no place where you can physically go and buy a book for cash.

So let’s assume for the sake of argument that you can come up with anonymous digital cash that can be used when shopping online. I’ve heard convincing arguments both ways on this issue from people who are evidently smarter than I am. I have no idea, but let’s assume it’s possible. But if you buy something online, it has to be shipped to you, so you have to give them your address. So how can you anonymize the transaction?

The only thing I can think of (and this would take a significant infrastructure commitment, but no more significant than moving all commerce online) would be to have the goods shipped to some pickup site (picture a wall of lockers), and the code you get when you complete your transaction unlocks the locker. You get an email, through some anonymizing intermediary that tells you when the goods have arrived at the locker facility. It should actually save on shipping as goods that now get delivered to 5,000 different houses in town would all be going to the locker facility instead.

Has anyone given this issue any thought, and if so, what are your ideas?
