Gov. Rick Scott considering executive action to address Common Core controversy
Miami Herald ^ | 09.18.13 | Kathleen McGrory, Steve Bousquet and Alex Leary

Once a clear Common Core supporter, Scott is in a political bind. Tea party groups, which make up an important part of his base, want Florida to jettison the new standards and tests. But schools across the state are already teaching Common Core, and Republican leaders in the House and Senate are standing behind the benchmarks.

The Common Core standards outline what is expected of students at each grade level but do not include suggestions for books or how teachers should plan their lessons. The benchmarks, created by the National Governors Association and Council of Chief State School Officers, have been approved in 45 states and the District of Columbia.

Scott was not clear on a timeline for executive action. “We’ll do it as quickly as we can coalesce what we think is the right thing to do and still get information from people,” he said.

Vampires, McKinsey & Co., and the Future of Public Education: It’s All Connected.

http://educationalchemy.com/2013/03/23/vampires-mckinsey-co-and-the-future-of-public-education-its-all-connected/

Excerpt:
In their promotional flyer “Transforming Learning through mEducation”McKinsey and Co. promote the values of hand held and mobile devices so that they can now have direct access to children as the consumers of their learning products with no messy overhead or interference from a teacher, peers, or a community of learners. They state “the market for mEducation products and services today is worth 3.4 billion dollars.” They add that, “By 2020, mEducation may address up to 70 billion” of the anticipated 8 trillion dollars spent globally.
Snip
Let me rephrase that for you: McKinsey will serve as or supervise the GOVERNING ENTITY to deliver state-wide testing/data collection to (from) public school children. And Gates and Hewlett Foundations foot the bill to make this happen.

This stuff is utter crap. Deposited by the Communistic radicals attempting to ‘change’ everything in America. Including LOCAL control of schools.

“Terrorist Professor Bill Ayers and Obama’s Federal School Curriculum”

“...Common Core is part of an effort to implement regionalism, the replacement of local governments by regional boards of federally appointed bureaucrats, who in turn are beholden to international bodies. Regionalism will eliminate the freedom parents now have in choosing neighborhoods with good schools because tax funds will be distributed equally. There will be no escape in home schooling or private schools either, because the curriculum will follow national tests. Students will be tracked through mandatory state records that will then be accessible to Washington bureaucrats. Ultimately, all students will be subject to education mandates implemented by Obama’s radical cronies...”

From where do governors and even mayors get “Executive Order” powers?

Lazy bought and paid for legislature and stupid voters. A corrupt judicial helps to I guess.

Scott ...an abysmal failure in Nashville who barely escaped jail and cost investors dearly

Goes to Florida and gets elected Governor 13 years later

where are you, what county as I;m in St Johns, St Augustine and it’s the pledge, God etc said here , we also have the best school system in the state and the county is not in debt , infact we’re building 5 more schools while other counties are closing.
Course we’re also one of the most republican counties in the state and have no Dems in charge here which would explain why we have money and no debt.

exactly and when I tell people some of his quotes I get the usual of ,”I’ve never heard of that before”.

He was far from being the great man some like to make out, he was certainly a good political official as he knew how to blame others, do the opposite of what he said and switch positions to suit himself.

Find out what the teacher really taught, because you know how kids can misconstrue what is being taught.

Common Core is bad. But then it was partially written by Bill Ayers.

Lincoln was a great man and president. He is one of the greatest presidents we’ve had.

Every person/president has issues, but should be looked at for the whole rather than a few things. Also, the circumstances, and reason must be taken into account.

The teacher may have got it right, but I’ll bet there was no background. The poor kid’s perception of Lincoln is now colored.

The Muslim/Christian is something to be worried about. But it is “another” thing, not the only thing.

Thank you for supporting Lincoln and the truth! It’s sad that there are those here who have fallen for the degrading Lincoln strategy by the Left. Context is everything.

God blessed us indeed, by giving us Lincoln!

A little aside: the cousin of my friend’s great, great grandfather was the official Piper for the White House and Licoln. He accompanied Lincoln’s body.

It depends on how you view the man.
The kid will be alright.]
Agree that it is one of the things not the only thing.
