Yeah that happens with a lot of these people. I think the House sent a loud and clear message and some of the wavering senators are starting to change their minds. It happened with Toomey and it looks like Moran too.

If you go to the site www.dontfundobamacare.com, there is a section for the Senate Republican Whip list. For each senator in that table, when you click the icon in the "INFO" column, you will see notes on where that senator stands with regards to defunding. Useful information!

There is information on if that senator has made a commitment or not, or if they are playing for the other team.

Not sure when the vote will be. Senate is recessed until Tuesday, per FoxNews.

That's why it's of utmost importance to make those calls/send emails, etc on Monday/today.

Do it!

Received the following from Senator Wicker in my email.

Wicker Calls for Obamacare's Repeal as Major Deadline Looms Insurance Exchanges Are Scheduled to Begin on October 1

In less than two weeks, the President's controversial health-care law will face a major test: Meeting the open enrollment start date for its insurance "exchanges." These state-based exchanges are where many Americans will be forced to buy a government-mandated health-care plan.

It is no secret that Obamacare has been fraught with problems since it became law three years ago. According to a recent analysis by the Congressional Research Service, the Obama Administration has failed to meet half of the law's deadlines. Key provisions have been delayed, such as the mandate for employers to provide insurance if they have 50 or more full-time employees. Even President Obama has acknowledged the law's flaws, signing 14 pieces of legislation to amend, rescind, or repeal parts of it.

Public Disapproval Reaches New Highs

As the October 1 deadline looms for the insurance exchanges, public disapproval has never been higher. A new USA Today/Pew Research Center poll reveals 53 percent of Americans do not support the President's health-care overhaul. A recent survey by CNN/ORC International shows 57 percent are against all or most of the law's proposals.

Joining the unpopularity is widespread confusion about what exactly the 2,700-page law entails. One poll found many young people do not realize that every American will be forced to purchase insurance next year or pay a fine. Experts say the exchanges will not work if young adults choose not to enroll.

Americans Weary of Broken Promises

Misgivings about the health-care law are hardly surprising, given the long litany of broken promises. The President had assured Americans that the law would lower premiums and not endanger the health-care plans of those currently insured. Instead, consumers are bracing for the "sticker shock" of higher insurance rates, and a growing number of companies have decided to drop or change their coverage options.

Some employers have downsized staffs and cut hours to avoid burdensome mandates, drawing the ire of labor unions that were once among the law's leading supporters. In July, three major unions sent a letter to Democratic leaders Sen. Harry Reid (Nev.) and Rep. Nancy Pelosi (Calif.) expressing their concerns that the law will lead to poorer health-care coverage for union members and "destroy the foundation of the 40 hour work week."

At this point, the exchanges have not met expectations as marketplaces of choice, competition, and affordability. Several large insurers have already opted not to participate, citing uncertainty about the law's impact. Challenges with technology to get the online networks operational have also raised alarm, prompting one expert to forecast a "rocky" start.

Efforts Continue to Repeal, Replace

I remain a staunch opponent of the President's health-care law and will continue to fight for its full repeal. Our aim should be true health-care reform, not policies that force families and businesses to shoulder higher costs.

A number of efforts are underway to prevent the law from taking effect. In the Senate, I recently cosponsored legislation to delay the law's heavy-handed mandates, including the requirement for every American to purchase health insurance. Introduced by Sen. Dan Coats (R-Ind.) and Republican Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.), the legislation would offer individuals and families relief while lawmakers work on market-driven, patient-focused solutions. A similar bill passed earlier this year in the House of Representatives with bipartisan support.

Sen. Max Baucus (D-Mont.), who helped write the health-care law, was right to call its implementation a "train wreck." So far, Obamacare has been characterized by its problems – not its results. Repealing this costly, intrusive law is the first step toward real reform.

He and Cochran need to stand with Senator's Cruz and Lee!

Of interest, from RedState...

If 6 Republican Senators squish and vote for cloture on the bill, then a vote will happen on Reid’s motion to strike later in the process.

We all know it takes 60 votes to do anything in the Senate. Remember the Manchin-Toomey gun control amendment to the Reid gun control bill? The reason the bill failed is because liberals could not cobble together 60 votes to get Manchin-Toomey across the finish line. Every amendment and bill need 60 votes to pass, yet Reid has figured out a way to set up a vote that only needs 51 votes.

If Senators vote for cloture on this funding bill, they are voting with all the Democrats to fund ObamaCare.

The American people are not stupid and they are not going to believe that Republicans voting to shut off debate somehow want to defund Obamacare. If that were true why are all Democrats voting to shut off debate with a handful of Republicans?

Because this is a rhetorical trick to protect Republicans who will vote with Harry Reid.

Entire article, here: http://www.redstate.com/rs_insider/2013/09/22/how-john-boehner-and-mitch-mcconnell-are-funding-obamacare/

Toomey has been a disappointment on social issues.

Years ago, Toomey had an effective contribution arm providing an alternative to the RNC. It was great. I picked and supported pro-growth candidates — it was The Club for Growth, if I’m not mistaken.

But I’m often disappointed by the fiscal conservative that have no problem with the bastardization of family values and the butchering of nascent life — not to pin “all” of this on Toomey.

Thanks for the head’s up. Here’s my note to Senator Cornyn:

Senator Cornyn,

I truly can’t believe the comment you just made about ObamaCare: “we can’t shut down the government. It’s like burning down the house to get rid of the mice or rats”. Are you so afraid of the Washington Post and New York Times that you can’t see what people of Texas think? Have you turned into a Washington DC rat, cowering in the corner, afraid of your own shadow?

The people of Texas want you to rid the nation of socialized medicine. The strategy is simple:

Defund Obamacare by only allowing a bill to pass the Senate with NO funding for it.

Should Obama and Reid choose to shut down the government, give them a bill at a time to fund the things they whine about the most.

Texas will survive with a few weeks of Washington largess turned off.

It’s time to man up and do it. I have already stopped giving funds to the NRSC. I will give funds to your primary opponent if you can’t live up to the will of the people of Texas.

(NPS)

Saying they're *totally opposed to 0Care* is NOT enough!! They must say they OPPOSE any vote for CLOTURE - to stop Dingy Harry (Reid's) plan to fund 0Care.

You have to ask if they will OPPOSE CLOTURE, as only 6 Republican votes would be needed to bring up the vote.

If 6 Republican Senators squish and vote for cloture on the bill, then a vote will happen on Reid’s motion to strike later in the process.

I called both my senators from Kansas and asked that they stand with Cruz and Lee.

I then explained why I left the Republican Party today (Yep at 11:30am I became a registered Independent). I told them that the final straw with the GOP,not that the party cared, was Chris Wallace getting tons of opposing research on Ted Cruz to use against him. I was very, very polite and stated that I honestly felt that the GOP did not represent people like me who are Conservative anymore. I stated to the ladies (very sweet ladies) that I was paid lip service to my conservatism in order to get my money.
