As noted in the last post, Congressman Steve King "distracted" the Capitol Park Police while the veterans, per their training, rushed over the barriers.
Here's a brief Vine video of the veterans reclaiming their Memorial from Obama's Shutdown Theater Prop Workshop.
It’s the Washington Monument syndrome. During the government shutdown they close the most public things to make it look worse than it is.
In short, there is no reason they should close this Memorial. They did it because they know people will get angry about it and clamor to end the shutdown.
What they were after was a tearjerker interview with disappointed vets who could not visit the memorial because of the "Hostage Taker" and "Terrorist" Republicans in the House of Representatives.
They didn't get that...
So I guess the fact that the narrative changed means we won’t hear anything about it on the evening news...

These vets prevailed on the beaches of Normandy, the forests of the Bulge, the deserts of North Africa, the mountains of Italy, the jungles of Guadacanal and New Guinea, and on every cratered atoll of the Pacific; and someone thinks they can be deterred by a 3 foot barrier.

Because once upon a time, these same men - my father and uncles amongst them - flew across two oceans and forcibly DISMANTLED TWO “ALMIGHTY STATES” and destroyed the progenitors of them...
