I have that painting hanging in my living room. Henry is by far my FAVORITE patriot. An AMAZING book about him is “Son of Thunder”. Over 900 pages but it is an AWESOME read. You are very astute in your analogy. Ted Cruz is making history!

“...Caesar had his Brutus, Charles the First had his Cromwell, and George the Third.... (hiss from the gallery)... may profit by their example. (treason! from the gallery) If this be treason, make the most of it.”

Thanks! He was a very brave man. I admire him very much, as I do some of his contemporaries.

Outstanding post. Thank you.
Times are different now, but the human spirit has not changed much. The mind boggles when trying to compare circumstances Henry faced to those we face today.

Yeah, that was one brave speech. Some west VA yokel threatens the person of the king!!!!
Like so many founders, Henry followed it up, at great personal risk.

Thanks! My husband is an avid reader of history. It might be just the thing for a special occasion.

Well...IMHO...it appears the reason the GOPe is not fighting hard to defund....is due to the fact they support it....
Think about it...it gives them more power....and they can blame the DNC....in their minds it is a WIN/WIN....
