Republican Party’s Favorability Sinks to Record Low
National Review ^ | October 9, 2013 | Sterling Beard

Posted on 10/10/2013 6:33:11 AM PDT by Qbert

The Republican party has seen its favorability sink to 28 percent in this month’s Gallup poll, the lowest favorability rating measured for either party since the organization began polling on their approval in 1992.

The poll, conducted October 3 through October 6, finds that the GOP has dropped ten points in favorability from September. In addition, it’s viewed unfavorably by 62 percent of Americans. Independents also view the Democrats more favorably, 32 to 27 percent. However, self-identified Republicans are more than twice as likely to see their own party unfavorably (27 percent) than Democrats (13 percent).

Gallup says the results “may be consistent with the widely circulated narrative that the Republican Party is internally splintered on how best to handle the budgetary negotiations.”

Democrats have not been unscathed by the shutdown fight, either. Forty-nine percent of Americans have an unfavorable view of them and their favorability is down by four percentage points since last month.

The left was trumpeting this new poll all night long yesterday (they desperately needed something to distract people from the new AP poll showing Barry with a 37% approval rating...). The leftists, of course, are celebrating this poll as evidence that they are "winning" the battle. The reality is much different: Combine Democrats who hate the Republican Party with Conservatives who are exasperated with the timidity of the GOP-e and its inability to communicate any sort of coherent message to the public... and you're bound to wind up with some nasty poll numbers.

The take away from all of this? Fight on...

Now is the time to stand. Make those progressive RINO’s LEAVE the party.

McCain
Graham
Cornyn
McConnell

Their days are numbered....

The take away is that “approval polls” are schizophrenic measurements by definition. And when the approval is on a group instead of an individual person or individual issue, that schizophrenia is coupled with disqualifying generalization.

To wit: The GOP disapproval by some is that they are too “extreme” - and by others that they “do not fight hard enough.” Since those two are polar opposites, the poll is meaningless, or at least misleading.

Moreover, a lot of people who like their conservative Tea Party congressman or Senator will still say “disapprove” on a poll about the GOP in general, and still support THEIR Republican. This further erodes any usefulness of a poll like this.

It reminds me of how Bush Rove misread his approval numbers as they slid below 50. They assumed it was all because he was a “cowboy” and too conservative. So they ditched the cowboy and the conservatism - which of course pushed him into the high 20’s and low 30s on approvals - because a lot of people like cowboys and conservatism.

Rove to this day hasn’t a damned clue either......

I don’t care if it sinks to zero. The country’s dying a slow death anyway. Keep up the fight.

I’m not buying it. Everyone I know is pissed at the Regime and RATs in DC. I don’t hear people linking the BS in DC to the Republican Party. I do hear a lot of outrage over DeathCare, Nazi Germany, the redo.

Sure the GOP popularity is at a record low. Its because of the damn “moderates” who at every turn are doing everything they can to deflate the efforts to defund Obamacare as well as giving aid and comfort to the enemy (Democrats). If someone asked me if I approved of the GOP (aka leadership) I’d be hard pressed to say yes. Every day they lower the bar for negotiations headed towards a point where we will get absolutely nothing for this effort.

I agree with all you say. The only important poll is how many Americans want ObamaCare gone by what ever means available and will they support the people fighting for that. Fight on...

These RINO's/progressives are the reason for Pubbies new low approvals. You're right...time to take a stand and get them out.

What was the Repubs latest demand in negotiations? That Congress live under Obamacare as well? And The twice unconstitutionally elected admitted foreign born Islamic communist Kenyan said NO, absolutely not?

Oh those evil Republicans! How DARE they demand subhuman pieces of pig vomit like Pelosi and Reid and all the rest of these bugs who rammed Obamacommiecare down the throats of the peasants live under commie care as well! Don’t we know who they are??

This is the communist propaganda machine posing as our fair and impartial medias fault, why the Repubs are being blamed like this. They refuse to tell the real story, so the low IQ-ers blame Repubs.

If the Moon were found to be made of Blue Cheese, you’d demand that we bring back Blue Cheese manufacturing jobs.

We’ve heard you. Dozens of times. Find a relevant comment on the thread or, just post your usual post on your bathroom mirror and look at it every so often to feel better.
