We paid $634 million for the Obamacare sites and all we got was this lousy 404

It’s been one full week since the flagship technology portion of the Affordable Care Act (Obamacare) went live. And since that time, the ( befuddled beast) that is Healthcare.gov has shutdown, crapped out, stalled, and mis-loaded so consistently that its track record for failure is challenged only by Congress.

The site itself, which apparently underwent major code renovations over the weekend, still rejects user logins, fails to load drop-down menus and other crucial components for users that successfully gain entrance, and otherwise prevents uninsured Americans in the 36 states it serves from purchasing healthcare at competitive rates – Healthcare.gov’s primary purpose. The site is so busted that, as of a couple days ago, the number of people that successfully purchased healthcare through it was in the “single digits,” according to the

Can I ask a stupid question?

Obamacare passed in March 2010. They had over three years to prepare for the day when people would sign up for insurance. What the heck happened???

I realize I may be audited or sent to re-education camp for asking such a question, but, I think it’s a question worth asking. Is government in general or the Obama administration so incompetent that three years of planning and setting up the websites wasn’t enough??? Does this give anyone else great confidence in how Obamacare will be administered going forward????

In the tradition of not reading the bill before passing it, the powers that be apparently put out an RFP for a website that failed to specify that it actually had to work.

Only “hundreds” have been able to sign up for a health care plan at the Obamacare websites. The Wall Street Journal reported:

Okay now we will try the landline # 1-800-318-2596 listed above or 1-800-318-2596 = 1-800-FAU-CKYO.

“I’ll give you $634 million if you give me $600 million”.

You can’t steal the money until you allocate it.

Then there’s the issue of how many people have successfully signed up. Whether it’s that they can’t tell us or they won’t tell us, neither is confidence inspiring.

“When is my cardiac cath scheduled?” “We intend to continue our standing policy of making notifications at the end of the month” Oh Goodie.

If ever Darrell Issa needed to convene hearings on why a particular government program has failed, now would be the time.

Why has the Affordable Care Act gone so spectacularly wrong? If Kathleen Sebelius refuses to answer Jon Stewart’s questions about ObamaCare on the Comedy Channel, she must be subpoenaed by Congress to answer such questions under oath. For example, why did the Obama administration hire such an incompetent firm to handle the ObamaCare registration procedure, and how much money did the firm contribute to Obama’s re-election campaign?

CGI bought out American Management Systems (AMS) in 2004. Wiki: “AMS was founded in 1970 by five former Defense Department “Whiz Kids”: Charles Rossotti, Ivan Selin, Frank Nicolai, Patrick W. Gross, and Jan Lodal.” In 1997, Charles Rossotti was was named Commissioner of Internal Revenue by then President Bill Clinton where he served for 5 years. Wiki: “He was considered a reformer, upgrading the agency's technology, as well as turning the IRS into a more customer service oriented agency. Rossotti received a waiver from the Clinton administration that allowed him to retain his AMS stock in a blind trust.”

CGI also won a seven-year Commonwealth of Virginia government software contract in 2006 expected to be worth up to $300 million. Think Governors and now Senators Mark Warner and Tim Kaine.

The numbers are out ,, 51,000 signed up ,, I don’t know how many through healthcare.gov and how many through state websites ... based on my experience I’d put the healthcare.gov numbers at less than 10% of the total.
