A cop breaking up a woman’s face when he has her alone in a cell, is not part of a justice system.

He knew all that. He also knew that he was not in trouble. Police now are transitioning into a force of Occupation in a hated hostile colony.

NO act of physical barbarism is too great against those who are merely accused! Why, we should employ long torture sessions to people accused but not convicted of crimes! Make them walk through the Valley of Pain! Burn their flesh! Throw corrosive chemicals on them!

How about slowly drawing out their intestines through a small incision? We can get around to a summary trial later after their remains are sent to the four corners as a warning to others that they should never get themselves accused!

“She wasn’t driving. She was parked on the side of the road sleeping it off.

When the time comes, this cop has a bright future helping people get off of the trains. Or maybe he’ll just load them into the showers?”

I wonder if they still have the little drawing in children’s books, “The Policeman Is Your Friend”. Back in the day, just after the Earth had settled down to an oxygen-nitrogen atmosphere and I was a little kid, you could trust them. Really, these days, a five year old shouldn’t buy this.

They were accused. No punishment is too great.

she was sleeping in her car on the side of the road...she was not driving....

That indicated common sense on her part. She realized she was impaired. It does not excuse her offense but could be used in mitigation of it.

I have no tattoos, no swagger, don’t smoke or swear, never pack an attitude EVAR, and I was robbed by 2 uniformed cops in the Mission District in San Francisco.

Patted me down for no reason, then handed my wallet back to me after extracting the cash.

I’m still flabbergasted.

DO NOT TRUST COPS —this can happen to YOU, rest assured.

wouldn’t it be great if we could all had jobs where we could be brutal and inconsiderate to all the people we don’t like and then not have to worry about our boss? I should have been a cop.

I don’t hate cops. I know some good people who are cops.

I hate cowardly, thuggish, bullies regardless of their profession.

Gee, and all the "good cops" he works with said nothing.

Took filing suit for anyone at gestapo headquarters to even acknowledge it.

Officer Friendly left the force a long time ago.

He gets to work a LOT more closely with children (who he really reaally, reaaaaally loves) in his new job...

Police always have choices and while yours might sound good in theory, IMO the officer made the wrong choice this time. Woman asleep in her car, found to have been drinking; Take her keys, take her license away from her, send her away for treatment for 90 days, make sure her auto insurance carrier knows of the charges and then put a device on her car to prevent her driving in the future if she’s had anything to drink. But throw her in a cell like this? No way - nobody learned anything, she’s going to get a boat load of money from the city. Cop should be fired.

Sorry, some cops are CRIMINALS.

The NYC bike gang beating —5 cops were present and one was an active beating PARTICIPANT.

In Oakland California if you have a DOCUMENTED HISTORY of gang involvement it’s still OK for you to test, interview and accept a position as an armed, badged officer.

Ah, come to your house and get your cat out of the high tree..?!

Well, we have a legal system in this country. It's not perfect, but anyone who doesn't like it can move to Russia. it doesn't include a cop physically punishing an unconvicted person.

By the way: if because of this, she doesn't get punished for DUI, and then she goes on to kill someone in a drunken accident, can we abuse this cop for making that accident possible?

"Cassandra Feuerstein, 47, was arrested March 10 and charged with DUI after police found her sleeping on the side of the road as she sat behind the wheel of her car."

OR...

"...charging around drunk..."

Cops would also know the size of the cells, the concrete bench and what would likely happen if you shove a drunk towards a cell wall and bench.

He probably shoved other arrestees similarly into the cells without causing the injury that occurred so he probably was surprised at what happened. The lady's light weight made her move with greater force than with a heavier prisoner. Not excusing the cop. He was at fault. But he probably didn't intend to cause the serious injury he did.
