Guy already delivered the pathetic news of only 51,000 people signing up for Obamacare so far, but to make things worse, young people are still dodging the exchanges like the plague. Cathy Reisenwitz explains why in Forbes:
Experts say that young, healthy people must enroll in ObamaCares health exchanges to cover the cost of insuring sicker, older people. Its a simple math equation: Charge everyone roughly the same rate for access to basically the same product. The people who use it less will subsidize the people who use it more.
The problem with this plan is that it hoses young, relatively poor people like me right when we least need high bills for services theyre not using. And it helps older, relatively rich people who should be able to afford the care they need. If Americas downtrodden and struggling young people are smart, theyll opt out. Then itll be up to the federal government to fine them enough to make up for the shortfall.

I wonder how many would sign up for Social Security if it was optional?
Calm down. You have an education and long life in front of you.
To say you have “nothing” is a slap in the face to folks that have nothing. Step up, Be yourself, and thank God everyday that Sun comes up from the east!
Bored! Get a Kayak and hit the river.
OK, explain why a farmer would allow a person dressed like a gang-banger on his land ??
I base my self worth on that stuff. Is that a sane thing to do? Probably not but it is how it is. If the enemy takes the future away then I’ll become exceedingly unpleasant.
I hear you; I hope you do meet someone and have the means to have a family if that is the path you choose. I’m married for nearly twenty years with kids, about fifteen years older than you; many friends and family are in your position but slightly older than you. It is tough raising a family and money is tight; I sometimes wonder if I should have waited longer but I was afraid at the time that it would never be “the right time”. I don’t think marriage and children are for everybody; it is a huge (and permanent) change. I personally couldn’t imagine life differently at this point; I never had much coming from a large family so doing without isn’t as difficult for me as it might be for someone from a more comfortable youth. When I first married we lived for a couple of years in a tiny basement apartment saving money to start a family and buy a home; that apartment seemed luxurious in comparison to living in a single family house with parents and a number of siblings.
Having the mortgage and children reduces my income tax (being replaced with a property tax instead); I couldn’t imagine how high my income taxes would be without either of those deductions. Many young people get their first slap of reality with their first pay stub; they won’t be happy to see that reduced further. One of the problems I see in this economy is that people have to either work harder to have discretionary income for them to enjoy on non-essentials or they can sit back, breed irresponsibly, and still get a comfortable living out of it.
I’m also seeing people in their late twenties move back in with their parents in a desperate attempt to save money. This does save money in the end but the psychological impact of this lifestyle can cause issues in the workplace. Employers and employees can sense when something is not quite right about a person. It is also likely to drive off future mates when the person breaks the news. So many people choose to scrape by and barely save 100 bucks a month while working two jobs.
When I first bought health insurance after leaving college in the mid-70s, my premiums were $35/mo. Now theyre over $600.
What is inflation??!!!?!?

You’re welcome :-)
“Old equals rich. Oh, please let it be so.”
I spit my snifter of Benedictine all over my screen. Darn! That comment is funny, Libloather.
I don’t understand the basic economics and politics of Obamacare. The Dems think they can energize their base to sign up for this using their paid political operatives... I mean ‘Navigators’? When it costs money to sign up? They don’t understand their base. They want free stuff. They aren’t going to open their wallets for this crap. This will be an epic failure.
And they think they can force it to a single payer system after it fails? I don’t think so. It will still cost people money and they will be too pissed.
Lol..you are still allowed to burn fire wood in California, and there are plenty of people buying and selling it here also.
“OK, explain why a farmer would allow a person dressed like a gang-banger on his land ??”
Target practice? Who knows. Do you dress like a gang-banger, or do you just write stupid crap when you have no argument to refute common sense?
You make lots of excuses for lazy and stupid, and that is exactly what is keeping your millions of poor deprived yutes from getting off their ass and going to work!
Your attitude is incredibly callous, cruel, and most importantly ignorant. You lived your life on the upside of the biggest credit bubble in history - paid for on the credit of those you are slamming now for being lazy and stupid.
You need a visit to church or your personal equivalent thereof to get a refresher course on humility. But for the Grace of God, you would be one of these young people whose lives you apparently attach zero value to.
“Im also seeing people in their late twenties move back in with their parents in a desperate attempt to save money.”
If people don’t intend to start families there is little incentive to move out; if I wasn’t married I’d probably still live at home. Why not?
Amnesty is being pushed because whites’ decisions to forego children are causing a permanent slump in the housing market and school children; the public education industry won’t stand for it.
“It is also likely to drive off future mates when the person breaks the news.”
From what I see in my narrow little world (and all over the internet) many young males have no interest in marriage; why would they get married if they don’t intend to have children? I know young people who cohabitate, and children aren’t in their plans. They may want “mates” for sexual relations, but they don’t want to “mate”.
