100 years ago we taught latin and french in High School, now we teach remedial English in college.
“100 years ago we taught latin and french in High School, now we teach remedial English in colleg”
______________
I’m 81-—I had both Latin and French in middle school.
.
this is what the socialists call a big success story
Like I said crawl back under your rock you crawled out from.
Go away, troll.
Vouchers would do you fine.
Oh, okay—the public schools are adequate for smart kids. For average and below, I don’t know how easily we can fix them—though dispensing with the teachers unions would be a first step.

I would revise that maxim
America: Stuck on Lazy.
We have always had a low skill work force and always will. We also have workers that want to learn trade skills but do not want to go to college because they are not interested in the type of job that would lead to. The problem is we did not used to recruit illegals from other countries to fill the low skill jobs. We used to employ our own people in low skill jobs and some of those jobs were actually bottom rung of the ladder jobs- construction workers used to be able to start as laborers and get trained on the job to the point they could be supervisors or even own their own sub contracting business. We have trashed that by encouraging illegals to come take those jobs. Our politicians decided our workers were too good for those jobs and took the option away. Employers usually hire illegals because they have been taxed and regulated to the point it is cheaper and easier for them to hire illegals.
You don’t have to go to college to learn skills. How about going to trade schools? What is wrong with how to learn to built houses, or repair engines, ect?
just like that arrogant pos at 1600 Pennsylvania Ave calls it a success when a few thousand try to sign on the unaffordable health care website
How dare you call me a troll. And get off my thread
Yes Vouchers would do fine but not all school districts have vouchers
People used to learn construction, welding and auto mechanics on the job, auto mechanics does pretty much take a trade school now, because vehicles are getting so complicated. Welding jobs that pay real well usually require a trade school as well. You are right about trade schools being good but not everyone can afford to go or qualifies for grants/loans.
Construction has been overtaken by illegals, few jobs left there. Nothing wrong with trade schools but nothing wrong with getting illegals out of our economy so our own people can get entry level jobs to work their way up either.
