Cruz won't filibuster Senate plan to end fiscal crisis, will continue ObamaCare fight

Texas Sen. Ted Cruz said Wednesday he was disappointed that fellow Senate Republicans didn’t unite with House Republicans to make the dismantling of ObamaCare part of any deal to end the Washington fiscal crisis, but vowed not to block a Senate proposal to end the stalemate and continue efforts to stop the health care law.

“I have nothing to gain from delaying this vote by one or two days,” said Cruz, who last month spoke 21 straight hours on the Senate floor in a filibuster-like attempt to defund ObamaCare.

Ted is not a quitter. He will continue the fight. His support will grow.

You risk revealing that you have never seen the movie “Animal House.”

“What exactly were you doing that rose above what he did again?”

I hope you are joking. Had I been pounding sand in the desert that would have risen above what he did.

Obamacare was launched. The launch was a disaster. So tell me again why is he creating a diversion by protesting against the closure of some monuments that people have had a chance to visit for decades? Cruz did more harm than good. If he was planning to cave it would have been better if he caved last month. But I guess he had “nothing to gain” by doing that.

He’s quoting John Belushi’s speech from Animal House.

Thank you. Great point. If we hadn’t gone through this charade, then we would have spent the last two weeks entirely talking about what an abject disaster the Obamacare rollout has been. Instead, it was upstaged by this. (which everyone knew was doomed from the outset)

You are right. Difference is, is that the house can stand strong and just vote no. With HC we needed Yes votes. There is a difference.

We need to focus on getting rid of Boehner and all of the other RINOs in their next primary. I will never again vote for anyone other than a true conservative like Cruz in the general election for President.

You wrote: “Defund was a bad idea. Need to win 2014 and 2016 to truly get rid of this horrible law. Strength in numbers and we don’t have numbers. We have two MASSIVE roadblocks. Obama and Reid. Get rid of them, we win.”

“Defund” was not only a good plan but the only constitutional and honorable thing that our elected representatives could have tried for! Anything else would be unconstitutional! It is treason to fund an unconstitutional law.

Pragmatically, name the last big government entitlement program that was gotten rid of. You can’t. America will not be re-trained to its orthodox American roots any time soon. Your plan is the bad one. Now it may be what we get stuck with now because of hesitant pseudo-conservatives and RINOs.

You can’t let cancer metastasize, you have to cut it out before it spreads.

Your plan to just accept Obamacare now and later repeal Obamacare if that happens will be contributing to America’s downfall. (By the way, that was already the plan before and it did not work.)

You watch at what will be happening later if this goes the way you are advocating.

Wow idiot, are you clueless? We had nothing walking into this. Boner was going to cave outright in exchange for nothing, Cruz standing up gave us only a few month extension and income verification for Zerocare. Now we wait for the frustration and anger to rise while it kicks in, screwing everybody.

Cruz played the Dems and the GOPe against the TP’ers and put everyone on record for the primaries. So the question is, what are YOU doing to do to get off your arse to make a conservative majority happen?

I don't think Cruz's actions were harmful, nor do I think they were fruitless or a waste of time.

I think Cruz standing tall, screaming to America, "Look at this crap sandwich before you take a bite! I am trying to help you, the American people, but I got too many against me up here; you MUST put more people like ME in power so that we can accomplish what I am saying."

In other words, he took a bullet today and might have lost this battle, but by standing up and showing that he and a few others could use some more help, he might still yet win the war!

The GOPe has been fighting to lose in EVERY battle since 2006! Ted Cruz showed that with a few more fire-brand stalwarts to help him, he could WIN this war! We, the American People, could win this war!

I think Cruz was fighting to show Obama sucks, Obamacare sucks, the Democrats suck AND the damn GOPe sucks, too! I think he did that quite clearly!

Defund was a plan that was doomed to fail. Reid and Obama stood in the way. That is reality. And no, I don’t want to “accept” Obamacare now. I despise it. It’s a horrible law. But our best chance to remove it, is winning elections. Simple as that.

I am being realistic. The House will cave as they always do. The pressure to give amnesty will be very great. The Dems and the RINOs and the media will do the same thing they did today.

We The People have no clout, far less than illegal aliens have.

The will give us one thing. That will be the bill for all the new immigrunts.

I can see that. I don’t like people saying that the whole GOP caved. Including Cruz. Not true. It was a losing battle. I think He was able to get some light on the subject, but to be honest. Obamacare is doing that on it’s own. People aren’t liking it. Need to keep hammering it.
