Texas Sen. Ted Cruz railed against a Senate deal to end the government shutdown and raise the debt limit, but he said to filibuster would be a pointless exercise. …

“It is about all the people across this country who are right now facing terrifying decisions, because they are losing their health care, losing their jobs, being left in the cold. And, sadly, the United States Senate has said Washington will do nothing,” he said.

“The Washington establishment is refusing to listen to the American people. The deal that has been cut provides no relief to millions of American who are hurting because of Obamacare,” Cruz added. …

Cruz is an inspiring speaker but a disaster as a strategist. He needs a smarter thinker to advise him on which moves to make. The shutdown has been a huge loss for the Republicans. We need to do better.

Oh, get real. He was defeated before he began - the very definition of courage.

There is no strategy that can overtake the power of the conglomerate, which is, in order of weak to strong, the Senate dems, BO, the media, conservative pundits and the congressional republikicans.

Anyone who says that these powers can be overcome in one fight by one person is talking crazy.

Anyone.

Cruz is doing exactly what I elected him to do. Disrupt business as usual in DC. He'll be there for at least 5 more years, getting up the noses of liberals in both parties.

And there's nothing anyone can do about it.

Your GOP-E strategy certainly hasn't worked.

And who would that be and why was it a huge loss to Republicans?

What? “Definition of courage”? This isn’t about courageously going down to defeat. This is about WINNING. We need a smarter strategy.

What the Hell are you talking about? The time for passivity and adopting the narrative and premise of the Left are over. The best way to deal with these Marxists bastards is get in their faces now. Cruz and Lee were virtually the only Republicans trying to stop Obama’s garbage from destroying America.

Yup.

The top tier Republican leadership is infested with a group of people whose collective IQ wouldn’t add up to a respectable earthquake.

Republican #01: “I surrender”

Republican #02: “I surrendered first!”

Republican #03: “I SURRENDERED THE LOUDEST!”

Republican #04: “I surrendered the best and there’s my spine in Harry Reid’s trophy case to prove it.”

Yep, but one person can certainly get all the liberal panties in a wad, and I'm loving that part of it.

I disagree.

The American people now know that this is Obama and the democrat's baby.

No more blaming republicans for anything related to Obamacare.

When it all comes crashing down, republicans like Cruz can say that at least they tried.

The is the ultimate Pyrrhic "victory" for the democrat party.

Your idea of “strategy” is to fight a war within the narrative and on the Left’s battlefield so the liberal media won’t call you names.

In the very near future Senator Cruz and his likeminded companions in the Senate and House will be vindicated and the electorate will begin looking around for all those Senators and House members who failed them.

Thanks for repeating the GOP establishment (liberal) line, never mind the line of the mainstream media.

Cruz isn’t even the purported leader here; McConnell is supposed to be (but he’s a liberal). One can make a strategy, but when the liberals in your own party turn on you, what can you do?

I would call that something else.
