Skip to comments.Governor Palin: When life gives you lemons, at this point make margaritas

This photo of my son and nephew ran in our local newspaper about 15 years ago. Im betting dollars to doughnuts our president skipped this universal childhood lesson in Economics 101, and perhaps that explains his problem understanding the tragedy to befall us as America drowns in debt. Running a lemonade stand teaches you to progress by the sweat of your brow and live within your means. It taught these boys that it was unacceptable and self-defeating to keep coming back to mama for more money for ingredients needed to concoct a product to sell to the public. Obviously more debt means less progress and opportunity to expand. Anyone who has run a business knows more debt equals less profit, and less profit means less ability to grow operations, employ more people, and even hold your head high above shortsighted economic decisions that history proves lead to failure.
All these lessons about the kids lemonade stand and economic freedom apply to our families budgets, our businesses, and most certainly our government. We cannot borrow our way to prosperity. Were in a deep hole; quit digging. We cannot ignore the economic realities of bankruptcy.
President Obama is giddily enthused now about growing more debt, but just a few years prior when he was still a senator, he scolded America, proclaiming: The fact that we are here today to debate raising Americas debt limit is a sign of leadership failure. Increasing Americas debt weakens us domestically and internationally. And on July 3, 2008, he declared, driving up our national debt from $5 trillion dollars to $9 trillion is irresponsible. Its unpatriotic. If it was irresponsible and unpatriotic at $5 trillion, what is it at $17 trillion?
Was he lying then or now?
Mr. President, boys and girls all across our great nation would no doubt share their lessons learned about the danger of debt. Its our posterity youve made insecure when you doubled our national debt since taking office, which violates the preamble of our Constitution which speaks of securing the blessings of liberty to ourselves and our posterity. How can we secure our liberty when were hopelessly in debt to foreign nations? You said today that the cool thing about being President is you can pick up the phone and call anyone in the world and theyll answer. Call Track and Payton. Im sure your NSA and IRS have their numbers.

Good advice! Actually I’m drinking a cold bottle of hard cider I made in 2008.
Lots of booze might help temporarily but the hangover will make dealing with Obamacare that much harder.
I wouldn’t expect her to know this, being from Alaska and all, but you make margaritas with limes and lime juice.
And tequila. Lots of tequila.
Anyone worth their salt knows that.
You know what? I’m in the mood for a lemon margarita. How about that?
I see you got to it. I tried. :)
The trick is to not stop.
Yes, thanks so much.
Ya know, after the last couple of weeks, that sounds like a fine idea . . .
Your welcome dear lady.
If your Senator voted for Obamacare as mine did, they voted for Socialism...it will not be forgotten in 2014....Make the Congress vote by name, not by hand or voice....by name.
I like this better. (F-bomb warning)
Looks like Jose is driving the bus!
Pray America is Waking Up
Sarah is always so clever and does all she can to help the economy and now she has helped the American lemon industry as well as the Mexican tequila industry by popularizing the Lemon Margarita.
Any margarita worth its salt uses limes, not lemons.
A bar in So. California used to serve white wine Margaritas because they didn’t have a hard liquor license, it was actually pretty good in that you could slam 3 or 4 on a hot day without getting over buzzed, kind of like drinking Coors light when you have to drive.
Ever try a Back Porch Margarita?
4 beers of your choice.
4 shots of tequila
1 can of frozen lime juice.
Better than you would ever think it could be.
It’s already dark here and the Calamansi are hard to find in enough quantity in the dark (they’re the size of quarters) ,, so I took Palin’s lead and plucked some unripe lemons..
I’m not sure I’d be thinking anything after drinking that. :-))
I’ve never had that fruit. What does it taste like?
indeed! i love tequila, and i love margaritas... but i will have mine made with lime... on the rocks, please!
you COULD share, ya know
Funny you should mention hard cidey. I’m making a batch right now. Should be ready for drinking Christmas week. :-)
I’ll be making 10 gallons in a week or so :)
Lemon, lime....with the way things are right now, I'm not picky. Just gimme. ;)
Without the triple sec it’s nothing.
My congress critter is Peter Defazio so I know he will vote the syndicalist / Marxist point of view. He’s as bad as they come. He’s also no longer answering my letters, even with a form letter. According to his news letter he’s very excited about Obamacare but thinks the administration should be much more aggressive.
I’m going to kill a bottle of Pinot grigio.
Given the variations I’ve seen on both standard and Cadillac margaritas, the thought of a lemon marg doesn’t even surprise me.
I respectfully disagree with Sarah Palin that Obama's
careless irresponsible approach to economics, particularly Obama's foolishness in taking the country into more debt, is the country's problem.
The real problem, imo, is widespread ignorance of the federal government's constitutionally limited powers among voters.
Rick Bayless’ Meyer Lemon Margarita
While this cocktail is delicious made with everyday lemons, when the strikingly aromatic Meyer lemons become available in early winter, its worth celebrating their deliciousness with a margarita.
8 Meyer lemons
1 bottle 100% blue agave blanco tequila (750 milliliters)
1 cup sugar
2 Meyer lemons
1 1/2 cups Meyer Lemon Tequila
1 cup Meyer lemon juice (4 to 5 lemons)
3/4 cup Triple Sec
1/2 cup Meyer lemon simple syrup
6 cups ice
8 lemon twists, for garnish
2 shots of Beefeater gin, tonic water, slice of lime. Repeat as necessary, increasing gin portion.
Would you mind explaining please?
Sarah Palin is a very strong candidate go-forward.
She has a bright future.
It’s nice to know I’m in good company! Cheers!
When life gives you lemons, don't make lemonade - make life take the lemons back!
I don't want your damn lemons, what am I supposed to do with these?
Demand to see life's manager.
Make life rue the day it thought it could give Kc_Lion lemons. Do you know who I am?
I'm the man who's gonna burn your house down!
With the lemons.
I'm going to to get my engineers to invent a combustible lemon that burns your house down!
Hey, she's an Alaskan. They make do with whatever citrus products they can get :-)
Has she ever taken a ‘bad’ pic? If so, I’ve yet to see it.
Well, it’s not that the evil photographers haven’t tried!
She’s just too beautiful and her beauty comes from the inside.
God bless and keep her.
The hangover of dealing with Obama - whatever - is going to make all the hangovers, from whatever source in your whole entire life, seem like nothing.
The real problem, imo, is widespread ignorance of the federal government's constitutionally limited powers among voters.Agreed.
There was a reason the founders originally limited voting to property owners --- they were the only ones with "skin in the game".
Once you allow non-producers control over the federal treasury via the ballot box, the whole system begins to collapse.
10 gallons is a lot. I think I’ll start an additional batch this weekend. :-)
Right after I was fired from the Frontiersman! In any case, I really don’t miss working in the print media, which was dying when I left the business in the middle 1990s. Still, it’s interesting to see Heather’s name here on FR.
